I keep 3 normal chests as backup to make sure I have enough to do each days missions, but other then that have used them all. I don't get many that are not just common though, and those so far have not given me any tier 2 items (and pretty much almost never anything above uncommon at that.)
Hopefully when I get the weekly chests in a few days (which have a higher rarity) i'll get at lest 1 tier 2 item...so I can actually boost one of them. I have not used any of the crystals to boost any of the equipment so far because it would only affect one character.
I still ended up around the same level (I was able to fight at 101 fairly well, with my last run...but I just keep hitting a same wall right around then. I guess enough times resetting will eventually break it, but if something doesn't change soon, it's going to keep getting slower and slower for me to advance...and take like forever to get a new character:(
I'm also getting my last make it rain firestone training right now to 25, and will go back and boost the offensive one at the start (left it at 5), which will happen much faster and I should double the bonus from that pretty fast as well (effectively giving me 4x the damage as before outside of the normal bonuses).
That hopefully will get me moving up again fairly well. I have all the tier 2 slots opened except for the dude with the shield (he's at 1300 power out of 1400 needed....due to having just common items in each slot and the sword slot upgraded once).
I am considering using my meteorites to upgrade things on that tree, perhaps working towards the make it rain skill (already have the firestone one maxed). It requires 2 more armor and 3 of the lower gold cost to advance characters first, which will use up all my meteorites...but I only really need enough to unlock 1 more characters tier 2...and it'll be awhile till I can start on tier 3 (their power is too low).
If I do that, perhaps that will push me towards advancing more per day. I have gone up to level 110 though today (used 3 1 hour gold carts (with speed + power scroll), to help me along.
I'm out of gold cart thingies, and sold a bunch to the merchant (mostly totems etc), to get the level 1 make it rain from him. I'm heading towards 32 quickly....and then I hopefully will have enough/be able to get enough to get tier 2 of make it rain and tier 1 of attritubtes at the same time.
Still seems slow....even with everything I did today, I really only seemed to jump about 5 levels total...but maybe these last changes (just made them) will boost that.
1 - Get the firestone, raining gold, and skipping waves upgrades.
2 - Every 3rd research or skill upgrade you always need to get 1 att or defense upgrade because as you race up in levels the gaps become obvious. Those creeps keep growing exponentially and money will not make that go away. You need to keep adding attack and defense as well.
3 - The above advice does help (about opening up gear slots) but I found that getting the meteor gathering skill maxxed, it really speeds up the meteor research trees. It also speeds up gathering to open up all the gear tiers too.
Also got a purple upgrade for the armor tier 2 item which boosts armor.
But that's not all. I had enough for the tavern and ALSO got a borris enhancement there, along with the spell caster chick and a spell user upgrade card.
So that is going to help big time!!!
I was running with Borris as my leader before, but now I switched it to the archer dude, because he is the lowest damage now. Makes them all be able to one shot higher stuff evenly.
Bet I'll get alot farther after those upgrades though!!!
