Outcast - A New Beginning
I can't save the game at all
Auto-save isn't working, and manual saving doesn't work either. I've lost over 5 hours of gameplay.
Below, I’m attaching my report to support, so I don’t have to explain everything again about what’s happening (no pictures attached here):

I had already disabled synchronization before reaching out to you. I also tried running the game as an administrator. Additionally, I reinstalled the game from drive D to drive C to rule out any issues related to folder access.

Today I reinstalled the game again on drive C and disabled synchronization to follow the instructions you provided. Below I’ll describe step by step how the game behaves, and I’m attaching screenshots for reference:
1. I launch the game. The game starts in the temple (file 1.jpg). As you can see in the bottom-right corner, the autosave icon appears.
2. In the screenshots from files 2.jpg and 4.jpg the autosave icon is still visible—it has been displayed since the temple.
3. As shown in file 3.jpg, there are no saved game states. I’m also unable to manually save the game.
4. In file 5.jpg, you can see how far I progressed—there is still no save. In files 7.jpg and 8.jpg, there are still no visible saves.
5. File 6.jpg shows the Steam save settings.
6. In file 9.jpg, the game is reopened, and it’s not possible to press “Continue” because there are no saved game states.

The autosave icon appearing in point 1 and continuing until the situation in file 4.jpg concerns me—it seems like the autosave shouldn’t last this long. Until the end of the first mission with the artifact, the game neither resumes autosaving nor allows me to create a manual save.

Support replied then:
The game developers are aware of these issues and trying to find a solution to these problems.

It was at the end of December; it still hasn't been fixed. The game is useless and unplayable. Has anyone else had a similar problem and managed to fix it?

Sorry to hear that you have trouble saving. I cannot see those jpgs you mention, but to be clear, this is what's happening, correct?

1. Autosave icon does not disappear after it first appears, indicating that the game is still trying to save?
2. When you go to "Save game" to save manually, you can't.
3. When you go to "Load game" there are no saves listed there.

If that's the case, can you please try pressing Windows key + R key and paste the following: %localappdata%/O2/Saved/SaveGames

You should have some AutoSave_number.sav files in there. If not, that means the game is trying to save to the right location, but can't, which is usually a result of 1 of 3 issues:

1. Your antivirus/firewall is blocking or has quarantined one of the game's files.
2. You have "Controlled folder access" enabled in Windows. To see if that's the case, enter "Ransomeware protection" in Windows Search and hit Enter. If this setting it on, the game won't be able to save to the folder.
3. The AppData folder, the "local" folder in it or the "O2" folder in the "local" folder are set to "Read only". To check that, right-click each of those three folders and go to "Properties".
Dear Lanani,

Thank you very much for your quick and effective response. You understood my problem very well.

Regarding solution number 2 – I don’t have such an option because I use ESET Antivirus.

Regarding solution number 3 – I had already checked this several times before by changing the attributes, but it didn’t yield any results. However, today I discovered that I am indeed unable to copy any files into the O2 folder. Here’s what I did:
RMB on O2 folder -> Properties -> Protection -> Users, All: I set all permissions options to "Allow." And it worked! :)

You are better than THQ Support!
