DEVELOPERS: Review after Demo
This game has huge potential. The atmosphere and concept are similar to Horizon Zero Dawn.

But the combat is quite awful. Somehow making it as First Person Shooter (FPS) game will make more sense. The positioning of the camera during combat is on the right side of the main character. Most TPS games adjust the altitude of the camera higher than the head of the character. So it can give more vantage point. But Outcast choose a terrible option with camera positioning. Thus frequently I am struggling more about vantage point rather than immersing myself in the combat itself.

Having the main character purely on the bottom left corner of the screen also significantly reduce combat intuition. At some point, we can see bullets hurling towards us, then we try to evade, but eventually got hit anyway, because the real position of the character is not the same as the target point on the center of the screen. Most TPS games put the main character at the bottom of the screen with a little shift to the left or right. But Outcast made a terrible decision to put it way on the corner of the screen.

So my advise is, just make it an FPS mode during combat and TPS mode during conversation or exploration.

Moreover, most of the enemies are just plain idiots. They rushed to open space in front of us and render themselves to be easy target, rather than trying to find a covering spot. It totally gives impression like it is designated for small kids who just love the special effects of lasers flying around, without any challenge at all.

So yes, although the exploration aspect and conversation aspect with NPC, is almost as good as Horizon Zero Dawn, the combat aspect is just terrible and ruin the entire immersive experience.

I cancelled my plan to buy this game, unless those aspects are addressed. Thank you for the demo.
