This game is the best open world with "unreal engine 4" game ever made !
I'm 30 hours into the game so I've practically covered the entire map and I can say that the open world that has created appeal is truly MAGNIFICENT. If I were them I would use this map to create another game. the designers and graphic designers of APPEAL have created an incredibly realistic and believable alien world. and it's incredible that this was done using UNREAL ENGINE 4 which has always suffered with open worlds. and just remove the fog by modifying the engine.ini file to realize it! the draw distance and level of detail of the map when climbing over mountains in "desan" or "palana" is crazy.

Tried that modification when someone posted the edit to nexus and found that actually seeing into the distance without fog is where the beauty of the game dissipates. The fog is there for a reason and i don't think it has much to do with framerates. I found it still suffers with open worlds, though the developers have done their best, short of adding frame generation, despite heavy frame drops during battles. You only have to compare it to Avatar FOP or Horizon HZ/FW, both different engines i know, but miles ahead of this in draw distance and maintaining the beauty.

Can you expand on what's realistic about it?

Removing the fog only make the world more "little". But I also feel this game has one of the best good looking and inventive world space in the market.

Too bad THQ decided to released it the same day of Steam's Spring sale and just a few day before Horizon Forbidden West and Dragon's Dogma 2.

Zero chance to be successful on PC with such a release date.
