Fixing Crash on Startup?
I've been searching aroung the forums for a solution on fixing the startup crash that several people have been experiencing (Where the game loads the shaders and what-not and then crashes, apparently this game is infamous for getting to run on modern systems). From what I read, some people are saying that the game flat out refuses to work completely on Windows 7 64-bit while others say it's a hyperthreading problem. Is there a way to fix this issue? Because I have both of these things and I get the feeling I may have to use a completely different PC just to play this one game (Which I absolutely loved on the 360) which would be rather silly.

So is there any way around this issue or am I completely out of luck on this matter?

The question is...are you running on integrated graphics, mobile graphics chipset, or a dedicated graphics card in a PCIE slot?

I'm running on a GTX 980 if that clears anything up.

Recommend if you havent already:

Set a desktop shortcut to the actual executable instead of the steam link. Found under:

steam\steamapps\common\Timeshift\bin\Timeshift.exe

Under the desktop shortcut, under COMPATABILITY: Check RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

980Ti here, with 358.50 being the driver version.

I did change a few things in the default Nvidia profile, can share but typing all that would take awhile.

Recommend..uninstall the 3D Vision portion of the Nvidia drivers. I've had problems in the past with those that fixed several games, even if they arent supposed to be called.

Also , uninstall Miracast if not using.

Another point would be, do you have a 2nd display hooked up? (Even if not powered on) Is your output going there?

Are you running any antivirus or system security software that requires you to approve all programs running?

Lastly, how cluttered is your registry? I've had problems with video initialization with MPC-HC and PowerDVD in the past that required a registry cleaning to remove some bad entries. Might be worth a shot.

What's your CPU? If it has more than 4 cores this may be helpful, not only for Windows 10:
