help with cat lady

what are some ways to get more food or to preserve food cause for the love of Christ i get like 5 cats and barely have 4 food left after 80 days and no scenarios to get more food or scenarios that have a chance of food barely pop up before hand so i barely have 6 or 7 food by the time the fridge scenario happens (i'm playing little boy aka easy if this helps at all) please and help this ending is pissing me off

Maybe rescue no other person ant stock up on food when scavenging

i only usually rescue two other and sacrifice one of them after a few trips to the surface so the other can get more food while the other one sits there and i grab as much food and protection from raiders as possible
