The whole thing, takes root in pop culture, the voice line "out, Out dam Spot, comes from Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Evil Dead 2 contains a scene where the hero saws off his evil, possessed hand and chases it around with a sawed-off, somewhat reminiscent of Tom and Jerry. An all time classic and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone
