They don't, it's jus a very well written game, properly executed. Your just gonna have to get better, I was 17 when blood game out, i'm 45 now.

Game quality has gone WAY down hill, as u jus demonstrated... hahahahza

They do.

Blood's Cultists are famous for being hitscan nightmares. But I guess in the nearly 30 years since Blood's release you were never aware of that?

@OP Try using the "Made to Order" difficulty and set Player Damage Taken and Enemy Health to High, Enemy Count to Very High, all Cultist settings on Low (except the Prone one, I keep that on Medium). All other options are up to you, I keep them on Medium.

This difficulty makes the game feel tough but still playable. The cultists will still insta shoot you as you turn corners but they won't one shot you, you'll be able to take them out if you play smart.

This is the best way to play. I planned on going through the game on the hardest difficulty, but those cultists were just too frustrating to deal with. Keeping the difficulty up, but reducing the Cultist aggression and accuracy settings a bit drastically improved the experience.

If you plan on getting all achievements this still works well, but you have to play the post mortem chapter on 'well done' or 'extra crispy'.

Move fast, take cover, dive, use the crouch as it actually helps against hitscanners. Also, use plenty of dynamite to blow cultists up from around corners.

Also, use your tommy gun to stun cultists with the slightest damage, then shoot them close with the double barrel. Always works :)

Yeah that typically happens when you play on Pink on the Inside or Lightly Broiled.

Play a real man's difficulty, little girl.

Yup, they do and they are damn annoying.

Hitscan enemies in Build games are all annoying, to be honest.

Blood can be a pain because of them, but just "learn" the level to know where the cultists are and act FAST. Since cultists are weak to fire, BURN THEM as soon as you see them. You WILL take damage, but they will be screaming (IT'S BURNING! AHHH) in a second.

.
At least it's not like Descent, where the Hitscan enemies can shoot you before the animation of the door finishes, meaning you'll take damage from them before you can even SEE them.

Honestly, hitscan enemies in oldgames always had "aimbot". In games like Doom they aren't AS annoying because they have some kind of delay before they react, but apparently some games like Descent and... well, ALL Build Engine games, ignore this.

Be as sneaky as possible...the peek-a-boo method works pretty well as does making an initial shot and quickly turning the corner. They will follow you out usually one at a time. It's pretty manageable then. Also use many save slots. Have one in a safe space that's a definite, then one or more secondary saves with a "hope this works.." idea.
By the way yes, I played this on well done and that's what I'm talking about :)
