What do you honestly think of Episode 6?
Hi, people!

Hope everyone is doing fine!

I've just cleared the last episode, so I'd like to share my opinion about it and read yours. :steamhappy:

So, what do you all actually think about Episode 6 - Post Mortem?

WATCH OUT FOR SPOILERS!

1. First, I'd say that the levels on this episode are a bit weird. I mean, on the four classic ones you can feel the whole environment you're at and the levels tell a story that you can understand. There is an episode on an icy island, another one in an infested town, etc... But, on Ep 6 the levels are a bit senseless, you move from an aqueduct to a dungeon, etc, like, there is no connection in that.

2. Besides that, the levels themselves are somewhat easy. I'm not talking about the enemies you face, cause that depends mainly on the diff you pick, but it seems that these levels were poorly planned. It is all very basic and trivial, you get a key here, open a door there... The secrets are not very well hidden and are easy to find. I mean, I still haven't found the last secret on E1M1, but on E6 I have found all secrets in most levels and at least half on all of them, which is a lot considering it is my first time on this Ep and I have played on Well Done diff (so I was more concerned on just being able to clear the level rather than looking for secrets).

3. Last but not least, the final bosses are absolutely bizarre. Their stomp attack is illogical, completely nonsense, and the glitch with the Skull Rod make them as easy as puppies. They are not the kind of boss I would respect. I mean, Tchernobog is much more a boss than them, he is not glitched out and has senseful, compelling attacks, making him hard and interesting at the same time.

4. On the other hand, I'd say that the dynamiter-cultists and the mini-calebs make for good foes, so that is a positive aspect.

5. Overall, I think that this is the worst episode of Fresh Supply. Even with the texture issues, Cryptic Passage is still better than it. The four classic ones are the very best, with E2 and E3 on the top 2 imo. With all the respect, it seems that Post Mortem was made randomly by curious people, rather than professionals. This is not what you would expect from a final Episode. Maybe we should have an Episode 7 to fix that? :steammocking:

Maybe this chapter was made too quickly by the company, and is not my favorite too. My favorite is the first one. It would be nice if more people started playing it online again like when fresh supply came out :(

it's got a nice sense of humor and the architecture is great. it's not masterful in terms of level design but it's not anything that bad either. new inclusions are solid too with the new cultist variants and plant things (cute little shop of horrors tribute). i don't have anything against it

It's inconsistent in quality because it was made up of scrapped maps from the beta. The final boss himself is from an unused "beast mode" where Caleb would have transformed into a monster after, I think, taking enough damage in a short enough amount of time.

They basically took scraps and leftovers and mushed it together into a new episode.

Agree with this. The gothic architecture in these maps are some of the best

yep currently on this chapter now and its not fun what so ever. Feels like there was no thinking about enemy placement or strategy for the player like in other levels. In the previous missions enemies were carefully placed and so were pick ups so that you had to think about it and could fight your way out of the situation even if you had a fresh start with just the pick. But in this episode there strategy to challenge the player is basically THROW EVERY ENEMY TYPE IN 1 ROOM AND FIGHT! Like seriously I had to redo mission 4 several times because I would walk into a room and have 10 ranged enemies shoot me all at once. Or they would fall into the water and we would have that oh so lovely issue of trying to fight ranged enemies under water WHICH SUCKS

It's been over a year since I played it but it wasn't my favorite. The earlier episodes I find better. I'm waiting for Death Wish 2.0 to delve back into the world of blood.
