Doors that need keys or levers are marked "Locked" or "Need a key" (both onscreen and dialogue). If Caleb says "It's stuck", you can't open it.

You need a key to open the first door.

If you're in front of the double doors, go behind the fence and kill the guy with the robes. He has the key. If there are any other locked doors, chances are you need to kill a cultist or find the key. Just so you know where it is, the key is huge and stands upright, so you can't miss it.

You need to hit the activation button on the door, for me playing on a gamepad, it's the A button. Check your control list to find something along those lines.
