Hitscan mobs are supposed to be fun ?
I'm into retro shooters. I recently completed Doom 2 (brutaldoom), Dusk and Ion Fury.

I'm now playing this game .. it looks cool and all, but what's up with the hitscan ennemies you can't avoid a lot of the time? This game has become a quick save / quick load game for me.

Anyone else ?

Blood is a game you might want to try on an easy difficulty setting first. Once you know where enemies are, it's ok.

Crouching, jumping and moving seems to help. Also don't play on the top three difficulties. Civvie's Blood series on YouTube would be good to watch to see how it's done.

No offense, but you stating that you completed DOOM 2 the "Brutal way" just makes my soul wrench in disgust, not trying to knock your passion over, but that mod is far from vanilla (obviously) and is just not my cup o' tea. Be a man and play it vanilla (or in this case, my "remaster" of DOOM I, II and Final).
I played old DOOMs like 3years ago, and it was totally boring. The gameplay is very slow and without mouselook, it's just not fun, and sometimes unfair. Games like oldDOOMs didn't age well, but IMO modders made them fun again.

Don't tell me you played the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game with vanilla controls with arrow keys in DOS Box and not a proper source port, right?!
No. First I tried without mouselook but I gave up because it sucks. And yes, compared to Quake or Blood, DOOM is very slow. Brutal DOOM fixing the worst stuff. Enemies are more dangerous just as your weapons and u move faster. It's a pretty good and famous mod for good reasons.

It's not about the toughness, it's about the fun factor. Despite blood's nice atmosphere, the shooting, enemies and guns are not much fun to me.

Good thing you are playing the new version...while I perfer the original until they work out the kinks, they fixed to original bugs that were annoying and ruined the game a bit.

Glitch 1: When you save and have an item open, it uses the item. Yeah, you don't have to use Enter to use an item...but it was the easiest way for me to use items quickly.

Glitch 2: When you save a game and then reload it later, the game goes from whatever difficulty (normal - second option) to Extra Crispy. It was a known save glitch. On the Fun House secret level (Episode 1) I was taking on batches of like 8 or 9 enemies on each 5 feet I went and the would shoot at you before you could ever see them. It made the game really hard to where you have to bounce around and look quick before you got killed by dynamite men and machine gunners.

This new supply fixes both problems.

They better continue support, as this has potential to be the best version of blood. Not by much, but hopefully better.

U know this is not the only one port, don't u? There are other ports like GDX and NBlood. It's an okay port. Mod support isn't that good and it has other problems.

because it's more supposed to be played like a corner shot fps (goldeneye and others) than run & gun like doom where you run around the enemies.
You can try custom difficulty if you want something like Doom, more enemies, less damage.
And yes, it's better for the first time to play it at difficulty 2 or 3/5 if you want just enjoy it, no shame about it.

Even with new expansions, i play sometimes with difficulty 3/5 to enjoy it without too much difficulty even if i played the original game at hard max, when you don't know where will be the cultists, it's really harder, they can surprise you and do a lot of damage so don't worry and just enjoy it with difficulty 2 or 3/5, it's not like Doom :)

Protip: Crouching makes hitscanners have a harder time hitting you.

Thank you. Brutal Doom sucks and I hate that so many people play it over vanilla. It's fun to mess around with but so badly designed gameplay-wise.

Yay, another "It's too hard because hitscanners" thread. They aren't that bad, just learn how the enemies work and you will see how stupidly easy the game is. No map memory involved.
