I'd play the new custom difficulty and put maximum enemy counts with a difficulty that's fun and doesn't feel broken, or something along that line.
What would you think is reasonable challenge for the attacks and stuff? I'm not sure how these really effect gameplay, and with all the options I don't want to find out half through the game when a new enemy's introduced that's wayyy too hard.
Well Done is quite challenging. But I think you should pick this one.
Extra Crispy is unfair and definitely not for the first or even the second time you play the game. You have to memorize enemy locations and need to know all secrets to get extra health, armor and ammo.
I second that, sorta. I like the enemy count of WD but the hitscan is a bit atrocious, so I think Lightly Broiled is still the way to go for a very first playthrough, even if you're a hardcore FPS fan. I played all the things you mentioned and I didn't enjoy WD to start with.
Lemme put it this way: It was fun but the fun to frustration ratio was too low :D
I honestly do think that Blood is one of the hardest fps games and level knowledge and experience are the only ways to not die over and over or rely on quicksaves. Extra crispy is a joke though and not worth it at all. redic
After much trial and error the following settings seemed to be challenging whilst still leaving the fun intact. Most importantly it removes the uber accurate cultist accuracy.
Player damage scale on high (medium if you need more leeway)
Enemy damage scale on low.
Enemy amount on very high.
All Cultist aggressions and weapon accuracies on low.
All other settings on medium (default).
Hope this helps.
And mind you I'm also a hardcore FPS player that grew up on games like Duke Nukem 3D/Shadow Warrior etc, so this is the type of game I excel at. (Even if I am getting up there in years now, with slowing reflexes.)
