seem like you don't need a 3d software for what you want to achieve.
I reccomend getting 3D Coat or Mudbox instead. If you sculpt in Zbrush and need retopology then 3D Coat's tools are excellent once you learn how to use them. It also has good tools for UVs, I don't like the painting tools that much (I haven't use them very much) and I don't care for voxel sculpting, (I prefer Zbrush and Mudbox for that) but it's great to have them as extras for the price. 3D Coat's interface is kinda cluncky but doable also it has little documentation.
Mudbox is also a great alternative, user friendly, painting and UVs with the touch of a button, really decent sculpting tools and perfect integration with Maya. For a beginner I reccomend Mudbox the most. The problem is for a game engine I'm not exactly sure how Mudbox automatic UVs would work.
3D Coat is like a jack of all trades but master of none. Ireccomend you find tutorials and videos on EXACTLY what you want to do before you spend any money. Most box modeling applications can do UV unwrap, 3D Coat can do unwrap and painting.
