Seeking advice: Sculpt becomes too dense to smooth?
Creating a model from scratch (not a model import):
I have a situation where my models become too dense after repeated sculpting to smooth an area properly. The wire mesh shows that there are too many voxels clustered together to be smoothed out. Enlarging/Smoothing/Building/etc will not relax or reduce the mesh so that it can be properly sculpted.

I can't seem to find any voxel or polygon reduction brush. To fix it: I have been using Retopo on the entire model, export it, reload it, then I can smooth out the overly dense areas.

Is there an easier way?

Or this?

"Down arrow note. This icon will duplicate and decrease the resolution (by a factor of 2x) of your currently selected layer.
This is handy if you have an object layer that is too high a resolution and you need to take it down for some editing.
Beware that you will lose details if this is done."

It's the second icon from the bottom right.
YES! The resolution reduction worked! Thank you!!

The first method (the video) seemed to reduce the mesh temporarily. I clicked it once and smoothed out the model. When the icon is clicked a second time, my problem area returned. I can see how that method would be useful for large adjustments without the CPU slowing down on large models. Good thing to learn. :)

The second method: The down arrow icon reduced the resolution and made a nice copy of the model. It worked perfectly!!

The problem arose from my clumsy repeated use of the the curve function in sculpting. It placed so many vertices in one spot that they clumped together into a pimple head on my model. Your method allowed me to reduce the resolution enough to successfully smooth it away.

Thanks!!
