NO WAY I AM GOING TO PLAY THIS (and I wanted to)
well as you probably seen when launching game there is call for Windows Registry Editor to make/add change to it (I am not going to see what it is in that .reg file since I am not going to risk anything) a file called url_protocol.reg - N O W A Y - delete and forget about this game..... game did great first impression when I saw how game plays but I am not the one who can't read or do not know anything about PC - just pressing OK / YES / INSTALL with anything like not-knowing ppls do kek

is it me or is all credibility lost with that last phrase
WariousGaming Jun 22, 2023 @ 2:37pm
u are "credibility" lost, I just stated facts - MOST ppls installing software just press NEXT NEXT NEXT INSTALL without even reading or disabling features that software want to install....... so spare me ur crap

The devs need to address why a game installation needs to make registry changes. That is really not acceptable, beyond creating registry entries for its own file paths.

f this game: registry, data transfer, survey...

I understand your concerns. This issue about the registry editing was already brought up to the devs. They are investigating why this is occurring.

"They are investigating why this is occurring." That is not how programming works. It doesn't just happen, someone put it there.

Thats not necessarily the case, since devs dont program everything themself. They use finished code and also finished programs just like devs use direct X for their games or even engines they didnt program themself. Redundant code can do weird ♥♥♥♥.

True, but this is THEIR Anti-Cheat, they made it! They put it there and they are responsible for everything it does.

I ended up here looking for answers on why it needs access to registry editor. I don’t think I’ve ever started a game that needed access to that. I’m assuming it has to do with their anti cheat? I’m not comfortable with it, and I’m sure a lot of other ppl wouldn’t be either. Too many sketchy developers trying to get too much information from ppls personal computers, harmless or not.

IF something is asking for registry intrusion = BAD thing can happen and most probably data gathering which I do not approve - especially from random devs/publishers which tend to be connected with CHINA.

SERIOUSLY? Registry editor changes??? Come on devs this is INSANE. I REALLY wanted to play this game, but not anymore. You just LOST a future customer with this move. What a JOKE!

I too was a bit wary of allowing the registry changes so I declined but the game ran just fine.

Then it's not only intrusive, but also a useless anti-cheat, so like any other intrusive anti-cheat then, cool!

I also always declined registry access whenever it asked. I still had to remove 2 entries in my registry...

The game is very fun to play en clearly a lot of work was put into it. What their anti-cheat does however is unacceptable and I hope they officially address the issue. If what Proxima does is not intended, then it is gross incompetence and a security risk for every user imo.

I sincerely hope they take it serious.
