I suspect 100% of these issues will still be in EDF6 though lol
I could agree that the menu UI is a bit jank but the amount of stuff they added to this game over 4.1 more than makes up for the smaller issues.
EDF: Iron Rain was made by a different company and it has it's own set of quirks if 5 isn't to your liking but you want to smash bugs.
The mouse is direct input, which means it is perfect. The only issue I can imagine you had was playing Fencer with heavy weapons equipped which intentionally has slow aim and drift to balance out their power. You can equip special items that remove this in-game.
4 player scaling when launching an online mission solo is used by veterans—they create private rooms and launch solo to play the game in super challenge mode. For everyone else, you're not suppose to launch an online room solo—wait for someone to join and then you'll get proper 2/3/4 player scaling.
With regards to mouse input:
It's not Fencer - which plays awkwardly but understandable he's a walking turret. It is with all the characters as I quote: "flicked my aim in random directions upwards".
Here's what I could find online:
"The game uses a grid system for aiming which, when using the keyboard and mouse, relies on the standard 72 DPI for mice. Higher DPI breaks this system, resulting in erratic aiming and camera movement"
So using my G502X, it looks like my mouse is... too expensive for the game?
Or how about just acknowledging this is a crappy console port.
Weird mouse, minimal steamworks integration and a 60FPS lock.
As for not being supposed to launch an online game solo... wtf is that nonsense. I'm not hanging out in a lobby for 30 minutes waiting for people. That's why I am proposing *a better system* that has been used in games since the 2000s.
There is still no excuse for a game to be locked to 60FPS and have this much jank and ask for $60. I don't accept it in any other series, and I'm going to with EDF5 either!
Not everybody is the old EDF player running a Dell from 2009! I think I will keep away from the series - I'll pay plenty when a proper PC game comes to the series that matches modern hardware.
I'm not gonna deny that dynamic drop in/out for multiplayer would be ideal, but you have to realize the game released back in 2017. It is old news now and any old news game isn't going to have the most active multiplayer. So if you don't want to wait for someone to join your room then join someones instead. I don't think this is unreasonable for a 6 year old game.
Anyway, you've refunded the game and obviously nothing is going to change your mind. I'm posting because your misconceptions annoyed me.
Again, this is not me just saying "mouse is weird":
So why didn't, you know, press the button on your mouse and kick the DPI down a peg and try that? Again, the mouse aim mimics the mouse speed on the desktop. Whatever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you posted in blue is just that, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Posted by someone full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Enough dude. We've both lost. You lost at the very start when you felt the need to type long ass post about how you refunded the game. Why? Why did you feel the need to do this? I lost when I got annoyed by it.
I know you are not the dev but you may as well be #1 fanboy excusing all this.
I could only find a release date of 2019 on Steam/SteamDB/Steam charts. The depot for the game was created in December of 2018 so you must be referring to an earlier Japanese release. But even 2017 is about 10 years shy of decent matchmaking systems.
- Left 4 Dead 1 (rel: 2008) introduced Steamworks API - now adopted by thousands of games.
- Call of Duty 4 (rel: 2007) and Call of Duty 6 (rel: 2009)
- Halo 2 (rel: 2004)
Understandably these games are running on larger budgets (yet none of them charge as much as this) but they all run on different engines and all released over a decade and a half ago. 2017 was also the year of release for PlayerUnknown BattleGrounds, Destiny 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Sea of Thieves (still old news?), Battlefield 1 and Fortnite. There is a massive catalogue of games that predate 2017 that did it right (even if the games themselves are not necessarily better).
Honestly, I think this game could be better than all of them except for the really bad controls and shoddy matchmaking with its severe lack of any sort of Steam integration. Steamworks API had been out for nearly a decade in 2017 and there was a two year gap to integrate a system for Steam release.

but I don't buy games on Steam to have to inject code to fix my mouse flicking everywhere.
Is it so hard to just click play and enjoy? Apparently in 2017/2019 that was not possible... we just did not have the technology!
It is possible when the game first launched it had a bug...that was fixed a long time ago.
How much longer you gonna continue your crusade? I'm bored of it now. Aren't you?
You don't honestly think you're fooling anyone though, do you? The game is up, pack your ♥♥♥♥ and move on, but if you really wanna keep riding this ♥♥♥♥ stained merry-go-round I'll talk to ya tomorrow.
Hopefully someone is getting some laughs out of this.
I used evidence to get my points across. You can not dismiss the ever mounting mountain of evidence. My victory is bittersweet for I still can not play the game...
I love EDF but the lobby/matchmaking system is the one real bugbear I have with the franchise.
