Japanese to English???

For some reason, the game starts in japanese, even though I've set english in steam game properties. The in-game menu only gives me options for japanese and chinese language. I’ve tried verifying the files, reinstalling the game, and switching the language back and forth in steam, but nothing’s worked. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem (other than learning japanese)?

By chance, are you using a VPN? Steam might think you are in another region and be limiting you to that region's version of the game. Only thing I could think of.

For people out there who have the same problem, we found a fix for EDF 6 that works for EDF 5 also. To switch language from Japanese to English, follow this tip from somebody on the Internet who tried everything else:

"That didn't work for me. I ended up removing the SAVE_DATA folder, saved it to my desktop in case any issues arose. It rebuilt itself when I launched the game again, and didn't affect saves since it resynced with Steam. That fixed it for me."
