Depends of your budget I guess, 6 is right around the corner (extreme copium from me, 2 months is forever ughhhh) so might as well wait for it

That being said 5 was great and I enjoyed it more than 4.1 overall soooooo grab it if you will. Perhaps it'll go on sale around the release of 6?

Budget is not a problem

Just a bit concerned that 5 is a long game, so not sure if I will have enough time to finish it before 6 comes out :/

But if 6 is a continuation of 5 and it is advised to play 5 first, then i might get 5 haha

Its just the matter of if I will finish it before 6 comes out or should I just skip 5 directly to 6 haha

Oh I don't think it'll take you 2 months to beat it, unless you're planning to do all the missions on all difficulties with all 4 classes...
Wait for 6, you won't regret it.

If money isn't a concern get it, 6 is a continuation of 5. As for how long it'll take you, it depends on whether you want to 100% it or not, but if you do it should be around 250 or so hours without counting the dlc.

A long game? EDF 6 has 30 more than EDF 5's 110 missions (excluding the DLCs).

I'd say wait. July 25 is EDF 6. However, keep an eye out for an EDF 5 sale. If it goes on sale for close to $20 then pick it up. I like to use isthereanydeal website to track sales. Glad you are enjoying the series. EDF!!

If you can tolerate EDF games and have fun then 5 is a good buy. I have had lots of fun and there are 2 mods that when used will dramatically cut down on the grindiness of the game.

Lootmaster
increase box drop rate

I have insane amounts of armor(25-40k per class) because of those and I have only had edf5 for about 10 days. I am trying to get it mostly completed before 6 comes out and it will be a day one purchase.

Do you have personal knowledge of the poster that allows you to know for a fact that he would not regret starting a storyline in the middle if he has the ability to start it from the beginning (while getting more gameplay over time as well)?

5 is easy to beat in 2 days. It's a very short game if you're just doing a single story run.

you propably wanna play 5 first and then just wait until you have money to spare on 6 since 6's story is directly connected to 5. You won't be able to play 5 later on if you play 6 first due to the story spoiler.

Just grab 5 and play it, people play these games forever and there's always someone to hop into your lobby.

Be aware 100% completion is *hella* long as you need to play through the 116 or so missions 3 times for each class (Hard, Hardest, Inferno), and an entire run with an effective team is easily 20+ hours

any reason to avoid 100% completion. Just curious because i saw them a lot lately.

5 is definitely worth owning. You'd still have a lot to go by EDF 6 and it would feel really unfinished if you are aiming for 100% so up to you. If you just want to see the story, you could also get it and just do one of the easy modes.

There really isn't a lot to the story beyond missing out on tons of good meme worthy moments and songs. They might not hit the same though if you're not hunkering down on hard or inferno with online strangers you have gelled with through mutual brotherhood against armed alien oppression.

Much like the movie "The Thing" by John Carpenter the aliens have evolved to look just like us, so having brothers in arms you can trust is massively important in EDF.

I also think that the way EDF is each title isn't such a huge leap that you'd miss that much in the differences between 5 and 6.

However 5 is certainly a gem of a game and I recommend it to nearly everyone I know that has any game interest at all.
