If you really insist on playing Air Raider solo then you're going to have to use the faster tanks, grapes and nix which have collection rings.
Doesn't really seem fair nor balanced...
less silly reply - with the unique power to blow up half of the map on a whim comes the responsibility to allow enemies to stack/approach enough that cleaning up afterward is less painful. This is an important skill for big maps in general, since it’s not just armor and weapons, but also health drops, and there is a limit to how many boxes can spawn at once (little over a hundred).
Fencer and WD will always outmaneuver you, but relative to Ranger, it’s not so bad as soon as you start seeing the late-Hard and onward Nix Reds which serve both as mobility with chained jumps and excellent tools for actual fighting.
I'm quite obviously talking from of a single player perspective. That's a moot point.
you COULD shamelessly cheat for map collection, just do it at the end of the mission where it doesn’t meaningfully impact your gameplay outside of saving you 5 minutes
1.Beat The game on any difficulty easy/normal/hard, these diffculties are not that punishing you can getaway with using almost all kind of setups & aggressive strats to beat most of missions. It is mostly on hardest and inferno you will need to be prepared about your total collection and what is upgraded and more thoughtful strategies.
2. Congrats you unlocked all stages and they can all be played on any difficulty.
3. Research on internet or on steam guides which stages is good farming, there is also like numerous youtube videos on farming.
4.Spend like maybe 30min-3hours farming one single stage that is both easy and optimized on loot mostly dropping near same spot, congrats you have stockpile of loot. Lots of stages are bad for Raider and some stages are atrociously design with not giving you much time to collect and this is even more true for raider.
5. Once you got good amount or near total collection+decent upgrades for weapons level 50-90 you can now play most of game ignoring most of boxes that are not in your line of path on destroying the enemies, if you hit a wall on one of stages go back to said farming missions until you made decent progress.
you can also just accept doing what Plumber suggests if you completely can't stand wasting your time on grinding.
Also personally I wouldn't try to waste any time on trying to max out any of low level weapons on level 1-50 there all mostly junk that quickly replaced on hardest & the difficulty you first use them on are not that difficult either. Don't worry there is a 100% weapon collection achievement but none for fully maxing out all weapons, there is no reason at all to go out of your way to max upgrade all guns in game.
Lastly nobody mention this yet, but you can still get air raider loot both weapons and armor for the class even when you play as any other class like Fencer or Wing Diver so you can always play those classes first then play Ranger and Air Raider to have better starts as those classes. The class your not playing just get smaller percentage of the drops is all so it could be good for collecting but not too much for upgrading.
I think the game even tells you not to start off with using Air Raider in his bio when your selecting him until your a bit more familiar with the game.
fairly balanced i'd say, cause AR can do the highest theoretical dps, after all.
Even I found out that the best tactic to collect loot for every character is, to let ONE meager enemy survive, while you collect all loot in your map. Speed is no longer an issue with that tactic. So it doesn't really matter how fast a character is. So do not nuke them all into oblivion at once at the end. Of cource that is only a valid tactik for single player games and a patient gamer.
Add to that that the ranger and this class are able to use fast vehicles. Just summon one of those, and you are able to collect all loot in no time. So I am not able to see your problem here. But like I said, I am totally new.
Besides that you know, you do collect health for all your different chars? And even a few weapons.
One enemy is not really able to hurt you badly.
If you really struggle with a mission just drop it down one difficulty or skip it for later.
