She's more of a plexiglass cannon.
1) Kill everything before it can kill you
2) Be so mobile that nothing can hit you
She's definitely not as powerful as in 4.1, in 5 I seem to gravitate to air raider and I might try fencer more also. I find hunkering down in a nyx suit much more appealing to avoid damage in 5, especially the later ones you unlock
Fencer = team survivability(self mobility and rescue), unkillable, period. Not a dps role
Ranger = Support(mostly for AR), heal, medium team survivability that can buy teammates limited time.
100+ weapon Ranger = Super soldier, Support and single target DPS
AR = AOE. Seating duck
I'm only talking about core functionality in general situations objectively.
Sure WD can do AOE but AR does much, much better job.
Sure WD sometimes have high survivability when played by a pro player in some not-so-dire situation, but if that pro player use a fencer he/she can survive much easier and longer.
Sure fencer can dps but try compete with WD or super ranger.
Sure AR can have ultra flexibility with Nix Assault but would you rather have a AR with Nix or a fencer as the last player standing in inferno DLC levels?
All classes are quite balanced in this game.
