Best mission to farm armor??
Right now I'm in the mission 50 with my ranger and his poor low 500 of hp and while probably I can't still acces it I want to know which is the best mission to farm about 30-50 of armor per mission.
Especially a relatively short mission, not the the type that you have to go from one side to the other full side of the map.
Does is require buy the dlc missions or one of the campaign can do?

bump cuz I have low armor

13% clearance only 800 armor so far, don't know where people get such crazy amounts from
I've found silver spiders drop a TON of boxes. In hardcore pack 2 there's a mission with tons of silver spiders, I average like 50 armor on my equipped class.

Monster Ball (I think is the name) has lots of boss monsters and special variants that also drop extra. It's short and sweet if you have enough damage. You dont need high difficulty to get armor drops, so you can do it at whatever you feel is fast enough. Though higher difficulties seem to drop more boxes, have more enemies and they'll move faster towards you. So find a good balance.

In 4.1 one of the missions in the extra pack have tons and tons of silvers spiders. So I assume is the same with 5, for fast armor farm then the extra missions are required?

if you want to get armor boxes automatically, Mission pack 2 (dlc2) is necessary. And you need a program or turbo controller. if you don't have this, you need Mission pack 1.

in dlc1, you can only get 1024 boxes. but in dlc2, that is unlimited. (if your game doesn't crash)

I would really advise against farming... I'd just advise go multiplayer, and play with people without thinking about much and just spend a good time and have fun. It's the best way to progress naturally + gain plenty of skill and experience + have fun at the same time.

You resort to repeated farming, and it tends to burn you out really fast... makes you womder, "why do I even bother with such a chore?"

...only if you're stupid enough to move onto a difficulty level which you're neither trained enough for, nor specced enough for.

Luckily, repeating missions in multiplayer gives you plenty of practice, as well as a decent amount of armor, so both can be easily avoided.

uhh okay, I take it you played for 2k hours before moving onto hardest then? another 10k for inferno I guess

That's always the case. Gold ants do 5x the damage regular ants do. 1k+ per shot on inferno and the number of shots increases with difficulty so you're looking at well over 10k damage if they are close enough. Gold ants are priority number one in any mission they appear.

On topic, if you also want to gather weapons, dlc 1 mission 11 has a small underground mission with tons of enemies, you can spawn camp one tunnel and then kill the rest as they come in. Dlc 2 mission 5 has only silver spiders and there are quite a lot of them, there are pre placed mechas that are very strong that can help kill them all.
Without dlc, for actively farming, base 228 retreat (mission 81) or current headquarters (mission 38) on hardest. In 228, you can use barga to kill frogs and aliens. You just need some way to deal with the ants easily. On current headquarters, there are two transport ships that drop silver spiders on hardest+ at the back. For just gathering armor on easy, there's extraterrestrial riders (mission 66). 5 or so aliens at the start nearby and then 10 heavy aliens spawn from two transports ships so it's easy to gather a lot of armor quickly.
For afk farming, brutal battlefield (mission 39). Don't grab sergeant squad. Clear all enemies except one of the transport ships. Grab both reaper squads and they can kill the ants the ship drops on their own. These transport ships only drop grey ants but they drop a bunch of them and they drop often. It's important not to grab the sergeant as he will kill the transport ship eventually.
All that said, if you just play through as each class, you should naturally gather sufficient armor. It won't be at the armor limit but it will be enough to survive and complete missions. Additionally, afk farming requires either air raider or ranger since they can passively have a large pickup radius. If you want to afk farm with fencer or wing diver, you will have to check back every few minutes to pick up drops.

farm offline if you are having trouble. anything you get offline will come with you to online. when you're offline, there is no armor/weapon limit, so you can use your max rank stuff in any level.

some players will sink 400 hrs in offline afk farms, then go online. completion may be 0% but they'll have all the weapons unlocked and probably 10k armor with some inferno farming guides.

its extremely easy to cheese this game, just do some reading, and find where the safe spots are.

Unless you're playing with armor limits off, point blank gold ant hits are always instant death in online play.

dude a majority of the mission flies by quick if you're doing a proper full party. On average I'd say an hour gets u 10 missions done on the first quarter. There's also guides on youtube and steam community to help u on specific levels/classes that u struggled w/. So no, it wont take as long as u would think to do some decent completions.

not sure why you think I have a problem with completion or need guides, but I don't, thanks

I suggest doing mission offline, enemies have less health, so kiling them is much faster and easier. Pick any mission u like that has stationary drop ships, make sure u kill everything else on the map and leave only 1 drop ship u want to stand under. Do this for about 30-60 minutes. Then u can kill the drop ship.

If u own the first DLC, pick mission 4, kill everything and leave only one drop ship alive. camp the ship and kill anything that drops down. Do this for about an hour, and u get well over 60 armor drops. U can also pick mission 11 in the cave. Once u get in there, turn left, go up the slope to 2nd floor, and head towards the tight tunnel til ur back is touching the dead end, bring anything that's spammable like WD's thunderbow or fencer's flamethrower and just shoot in a general direction til everything is dead, Once all the mobs are dead, use any weapon that has range to finish off the heavy armor aliens that are too fat to fit thru. Leave one alive so u have the time to actually collect the loot, and then kill off the last one. (keep in mind this mission is alot better for weapon farming, but it still works nonetheless).
The Grand Mugwump Feb 20, 2020 @ 8:50pm
You just need to get into the habit of leaving a monster alive to chase you around as you collect boxes at the end of each mission, or know when to start focusing on collecting while your allies finish things off. Multiplayer makes this go much faster since 4 people collect faster than 1. You could also learn to afk farm, but it's up to you how you want to progress through the game.
