- Go to C:\Users\{Your Name Here}\Documents\My Games\EDF5\SAVE_DATA\{Long String of Numbers} on your computer. The exact filepath may vary based on your operating system and other factors.
- Copy the folder "saveslot00" (plus others if you have multiple saved profiles that are corrupted) and place it somewhere else like your desktop or wherever. It doesn't matter, just as long as it's not in the same place. This is only for your own precautions to make a backup of your current save file. Yeah you said it's corrupted but whatever, always make backups when altering files. You can delete it later if it's no longer needed.
- Open the "BACKUP" folder and find the "saveslot00_####etc." folder with the most recent timestamp, then open that folder.
- Copy the contents of the folder you just opened. There should be something like 5 files in there.
- Go back to the location on Step 1.
- Open the "saveslot00" folder here and paste the files, replacing the ones there.
- Start up the game and see if it works correctly now.
- Did it work? If so, congratulations! If not, go back to Step 3 and find the folder with the second most recent timestamp and repeat the process of the steps that follow until you get one that works.
Hope that helps in some way. Good luck!Steam IDs are hashed into each save file in someway.
Sir Ducky, thank you very much for the fix, nice to know the game backs up the saves.
Using someone else's save file is not always "cheating". The same thing happened to me with this game. My son played the game on my account to see if he would like it. He did, and when we purchased it for his account we naturally tried to keep his progress by moving the save.
It doesn't work.
And, cheating in the game isn't really an issue either, unless you use it on the multiplayer side.
Thank you!!
