It'd be gre....
Naw, that'd suck.
How about a complete turnover of this. Humanity having been ravaged and thinking they're doomed as a species reverse engineer the alien spacecraft, use the alien nav computers to determine where thier settled systems are and go on a suicidal vengeance campaign.
So in EDF 6 instead of defending the earth you're cleansing alien planets.
In EDF 6, one of the human universes manages to kill an important leader, and the Alien Empire turns upon itself. So we get to see Hectors duking it out with frogs, while humanity ends up being caught in the middle of their spat.
Bonus points if there's some crazy shenanigans that lead to us teaming up with one group of aliens against an even worse group that threatens us all. Iron Rain ant riders charging the frontlines alongside Fencers, Cosmonaut heavy infantry side by side with Nyx powered exoskeletons, and maybe even some special alien tech like temporary access to the Genocide Gun vs an even more overwhelming enemy force.
After all, we know the humanoid aliens look exactly like us, why not try dialogue with them?
Earth Defense Force? More like Extraterrestial Defense Force.
that's not defense. that's offense. disgusting. no buy.
