Is this game racist?

Hello, I noticed that this game has some risque lines referring to aliens as illegal immigrants that need evicted. Is this the official view of the devs? Or did a rogue dev manage to sneak these hateful lines into the game without the rest of the team finding out?

Well, first off, it's probably not the devs, since the English voice acting is largely the work of the localization team.

Otherwise? Well, the term "alien" has meant "foreign national" for a long time, and doesn't really have any negative connotations. And in spite of the how these aliens "Look just like humans" and the term "illegal alien" has, likewise, been around for pretty much as long as there has been immigration policy. It's not hateful in and of itself, though certainly the application of the term by certain recent U.S. administrations has been.

So no, I don't think the game is hateful. I think the game is trying to make a joke that doesn't go over as well as it could in the current political climate.

No he is referring as "Alien" as in human immigrants living other side the countries which giving him idea of being racist against immigrantion of human being. Yes he probably know that space alien are illegal immigrants for sure for he knows that it is already a terrorist doing WWIII

Its a videogame and racism is an overused term that has lost all meaning because it is now tied to censorship and widespread misuse which has caused the original meaning to shift in to: STFU I´m a minority or of a different race than white.

The less the word Racism is thrown around and less lightly, the more it retains its meaning but now its thrown around so often its like children screaming.

Well, if someone see's racism here, he is propably right. The EDF Literarely does a genocide on the "ravegers" as they WILL be called (Not now, i know. This is the first EDF Remade thus no proper names for them) and hates them.

Plus: The EDF is already an international Force, where should the "racism" as you call "human hates human" be? You could instead hate it for the use of a female only unit that is dressed quiet, well, obscene for some (thou its nessesary so they can actualy move around, jetpacks here are realistic, they can only carry so much weight and not everything up to heavy armor) And hell i LOVE the wingdiver's. They are ELITE Units, far above the Rangers and even Air raiders and Lancers are nowhere near that status.


So again: Racist, yes , in the actual SENSE of racism as the EDF HATES The ravengers pretty much because they want to wipe out humanity. Yet it has NOTHING to do with Human hates Human here. Someone who belives this is either to young to play games OR does forget that this is a GAME and not REALITY. In a game someone can prety much do what he/she wants as its not real(i am still sad that the only games i am aware of getting childs into harms way/outright murder them are either OLD or Japanese or both!)

No, I think this is pose to be one thous brainwashing mind control influence he probably thinking, as in take American people and what we have illegal immigrants crossing the border lines and pretty much whoever plays EDF5 pretty much get flashback about this game and say to themselves "Kill the illegal immigrants" which may cause as result of due of hearing games influence people that way. So he had a point right into that ball park, today reality we do have to face it that when people get easily brainwash by video games (some does) pretty much they end up being GIJerk boasting or either gone off try beat someone to death but more likely boasting in %.

Pretty much we are facing that the fact of we are seeing the type of issues before which books can influence people and look how that turn out which everyone become better people or real jerk in the face, sometime video games can influence people too like cosplay people, manga/anime, stories maker, and be real something. At the time being in this video game yes we should just shoot them because they shot us 1st instead of explaining anything good.

In the original game design for EDF 5 the aliens were called "Immigrants" not "Primers" as in the release version.
They already changed the name after a outcry of western "game journalists".
In the first 2 EDF games the aliens are literally called " Gaijin" in the Japanese dub
which just means "Foreigner".

Its all tongue in cheek with the B movie camp of the games but sensitive westerners immediately clenched their collective butt.holes in outrage at the "racism".

EDF 5 is a reboot in a new continuity. There wont be any "ravagers" here, its new aliens with new motivations.
