Different character skins?

You're a civilian during the early few missions. You don't get the EDF outfits until you join edf in the story.

Finish the tutorial missions. You get the normal outfits on the one (~first 10 or so) where you officially join the EDF.

I kind of wish I could keep the old outfits in later mission I kind of like the Air-show outfit better than the Wing Diver one. I also like the idea of crossing guard ranger as well.

Considering how much better you are than his other troupes at killing the ant's I'm convinced he was just taking you on his mission route, For a Traffic_Guard/Air_Show_Performer/Forklift_Operator/Guy_With_Loader you are stupid good at this whole genocidal rampage thing.

I also love the idea of just seeing a forklift operator and being like "Here you'll need to defend yourself take these so you can call in AIR STRIKES"

Well yea, clearly he's qualified to handle heavy equipment like forklifts, scissor lifts, heavy bombers, diggers, bulldozers, murderous 10 meter tall mechs with guns on them, etc. It all falls under the same category, obviously.

Wasn't there some way to choose which outfit to wear? I thought I remember reading somewhere several months ago that if you do something like beat the game on a certain difficulty that you get that option, though perhaps I'm remembering wrong or it was bull to begin with.

I would like to wear some of the old outfits. Partially to stand out more from the NPCs during multi-player for the slightest edge, but also some look cooler to me. Police Ranger, specifically.

Good news is that I heard you unlock the ability to switch between the civilian and EDF outfit after completing the game, which is pretty great.

I have to admit though the Air Raider's 1950's sci-fi jetpack girl outfit looks way better.
