Wingdiver's the best class?
I just got into EDF cuz I saw the vids on youtube and thought all the ragdolling was pretty hilarous, but it's actually pretty good once I got into it.

So at least in the early game, it feels as if Wingdivers are the only viable class, cuz other classes are too slow to run away from enemies, and too slow to collect loot. With wing diver I can pick up 7-8 guns but with Ranger I can only get 2, and even in mid game often I find enemies are able to chase me down if I picked another class.

Fencer with the forward boost and a shield deflector.
+You can outrun anything.
+You can out DPS a tank
+Cannon weapons are piercing weapons
+Cannon weapons have insane range
-You need to learn how to shoot
-Cannons are usually 1 hit KO in friendly fire situations

Yes. Even the triple jump you get from level 5 stuff is enough to get on top of some fairly tall buildings.

On the original topic, Air Raider has everyone beat, it's hardly even a contest.

How dare you diss my ranger. Ranger with the breacher is one of, if not the strongest close range classes in the game. It feels glorious to two shot a king spider lol. Now, I know they aren't the best at "Range" as the name implies and that is partly due to the new restriction on "One weapon" rule that EDF 5 implemented. However, those shotguns when upgraded? Heh, you tell me 109x35 at low level. It's glorious!

Yeah air raider is definitely #1 in EDF5. Love all the changes, but Fencer will forever by my one and only.

Pretty sure air raider destroys them all with ease this time around. It isn't even a contest so far.

I'd also argue that ranger seems to be a bit better overall on most missions when it comes to killing things quickly. Yea, fencer is mobile, but without dash cancels letting you weave in attacks, your DPS goes way down.

You move much faster now with the dash + jump setup compared to the old dash cancels, just requires unlocking more jumps from support equipment.

Except the cave mission air raider are 1st if you know what you doing imo

I'm already finish the game once the air raider are strong af many of his arsenals also rely reload instead of points really make him great

Ranger got a massive nerf in 5 solely because you can't hotswap dual Lysanders any more.

Meanwhile every other class got massive QoL buffs and all Ranger got was the sprint... which doesn't replace giving yourself carpal tunnel with rollspam because any situation where you need to kite you'll die during the dash startup frames. The only good thing is being able to Koolaid Man through stuff with the right augment.

Move faster, yes. But you have less overall control than you had just spamming dash cancels with javelin. Was extremely easy dashing around with no ending lag and just using blasthole as you go, as needed.

Dash cancels weren't for the purpose of DPS. It was mainly just a tool for evasion and maneuvering. In 4.1 your damage dealers were still the slow heavy hitters
With dash cancel, you could get your blastholes/hammer blasts off with a lot more frequency and precision, because you had speed that was a lot more controllable with a lot less 'lag' at the end of the dashes as opposed to how they are now in 5. Jumps are better now, but you still have have to work harder and you don't have the same kind of control as 4.1.


Fencer was absolutely broken, and by far the best class in 4.1 because of how easy it was to abuse that 'mechanic'. I actually feel fencer is a lot more fun to play now, because it doesn't feel like you are bound to a few select load outs, usually including javelin catapults. Now you can mix weapons of your choosing (within reason) once you get the proper equipment. With all that said, DPS was higher in 4.1 because the odds of you taking a hit were so low that in between every low lag dash, you would be attacking.

I feel like Wingdivers got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pretty hard in this game, a lot of her weapons require up to 100 or more energy to use, last couple of seconds and can't hit that well. Most of the good weapons in previous game got changed and became worse.

So far for me up to stage 52 I'm still using Thunder crossbow because it doesn't drain half my battery, I have range and damage. Every other weapon feel like its made for a single target.

does that make the game TOO easy?
It still amazes me that many people thought javelin catapult + blasthole spear was one of the best setups for fencer for 4.1
In 4.1, once you realise how OP the reflector and powered reflector is, you could never go back to the catapult. Almost the same speed, you've still got your blasthole spear, but now as you dash around you can reflect the enemies projectiles back at them, preventing them from stunning you.

Run out of ammo on your 2nd set of weapons and the golden ants/Queen ants/King Spider/ Hectors/ whatever are approaching? REFLECT TIME!
anywho cant wait to literally fly across the map with endgame fencer
