I didn't know about iron rain but looking at youtube it has way way way better graphics, interface and customization than this :o
Hope they port it to PC at some point.
I might have to get a ps4, red dead 2 and days gone were already making it appealing, iron rain seems another good reason for it
seems some reviews rate iron rain as the best edf so far, the fact it runs on unreal engine gives it a LOT of credit.

From what I read it has a very similar way of unlocking weapons to Insect Armageddon where you don't need to grind, they become unlocked in the shop and you can buy whatever you want, so you can go though the whole game doing every single mission once getting only the weapons you want and grind if you want all of them. 5 has a whole lot of unnecessary grinding especially if you want to get all the weapons and max them out, but even maxing the weapons you want to use feels like a chore :(
Except a lot of people also think Iron Rain (not critics) is a bore because of it's lack of enemies.
Seriously the most enemies you get per level at once is like 30. Compared to the main series it's NOTHING.
The EDF fandom loves EDF period, in my eyes Iron Rain is neat and all but main series edf is where it's at and where it will always be at.
Also this game is a huge step up from 4.1 o.O"
To each their own I suppose, but iron rain scratches a single itch, and that would be graphics. There are a lot of people who play games with graphics being the biggest factor, and for them iron rain will be the choice.
For people who want to play the game with more replayability, more to do, and a much stronger emphasis on both tactical and team play, then games like EDF 4.1 and 5 are clear winners.
Wait, did you say you think 4.1 is better because 5 is below quality? Wait a minute... Let's see here.
More weapons.
Better class balancing.
More enemies.
More enemy tactics.
Enemies actually dodge you.
You can upgrade your weapons.
More levels.
Unlockable difficulties to keep the riff raff out early on.
So how is 4.1 better in that regard? Don't get me wrong. I love 4.1, but 5 is 4.1 and better in every regard.
If we really needed hi-fidelity graphics, it would be best if Sandlot collaborated with Bohemia Interactive. They could share manhours on developing maps, gear, vehicles, and so forth.
