EDF4 ending
Spoiler me the ending of EDF4, because I might or might not get 5, but I'm definitely not touching the previous one.

The games aren't connected.

The world outlook of this series of games is not the same, which can let you know the game at any time.
EDF 5 is basically a reboot of the story, it starts off with no one knowing anything about the aliens so you don't need to know anything about the previous games.

so everything we know about edf 4.1 will vanish ?

what a waste.

No, you'll keep your experience of what you've done. You'll still know that giant insects can't fly.

It is fine. EDF is like monster old and with many release impossible to get.

After all that would be impossible.

That would be like progress faster than science.

"Who's still fighting down there?"

"It's Storm Team, sir."

Let's see now...
Scientist dude basically guesses that the Ravagers have a central control module somewhere and sets off to find it. He's proven right, and the EDF launches a final attack on the brain in what is less a heroic quest and more an attempt to die with dignity. Most of the EDF soldiers involved die horribly, except for Storm Team who successfully battle through wave upon wave of dragons, flying vehicles, Hectors, and everything else the Ravagers can throw at them to destroy the brain itself.

With the central command module destroyed, the Ravagers immediately call a general retreat and withdraw all their forces from Earth even though they'd basically won by that point. Earth and the EDF eventually rebuild, and Storm Team are remembered as glorious heroes who saved the world.

That's about it, as I remember it. I do think that refusing to touch 4.1 is kind of a shame because it's a really cool game, if not without its flaws.

For the most part all of the EDF games have done this. They might sound like they reference previous games but really that's just because all the games are about the same thing (the EDF and giant bugs). EDF games have never been about the story but more the game experience.

All I need to know is "TO SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH FROM ANY ALIEN ATTACK!"
Tarmandan Jul 10, 2019 @ 12:07pm
I think only 2017 and 2025 are related as in 2017 is a scout force with a single mothership and 2025 is the actual attack with 10 motherships as the vanguarrd to the planet killer earth eaters
