The game is built on difficulty replayability. If you don't like it just cheat your way through, get bored of this game when done, and quit.
As an aside "better weapons" above the limit wont help the team effort so much as it enables harder carrying. The carrer/carried mindset isn't a good one for Inferno/Hardest. Everyone needs to be able to handle their own weight.
I can agree with this, and for the most part I went back to EDF 4.1 to see if it had the same limitations as EDF 5 (never had the chance to play EDF 4.1 comfortably with friends and every random match i saw hosted was set on Inferno difficulty and I couldn't do anything or unlock any weapons as a result) So i assumed the EDF 5 was the first to have this forced Weapon Level Restriction. My assumption was in error and I own up to that. I can understand the need for a restriction and that there's no easy middle ground for people who want to reap the rewards of their labor from offline mode in Online mode.
For starters, you'll have more armor (up to a point, but still). For seconds, you'll be far more likely to have upgraded weapons for your allowed level range. For thirds, you'll be more or less guaranteed that every time the level cap increases because you move forward in missions, that you'll immediately have access to improved weapons.
None of those are inconsiderable. When I play my Air Raider in Hard missions online, I have a strong selection of well upgraded gear. When I switch to a class I haven't been playing as much, I frequently find myself thinking "I wish I could use X, but it's 2 stars, and therefore garbage."
