[Jackbox Games]

Hello!
We do not currently have plans to translate The Jackbox Party Pack 6 into languages other than English, we're sorry.

Long story short: We would LOVE to localize all of our games for all the different languages and cultures across the globe, but we’re a small game studio and we don't have the resources to do that.

Long story long: We get a lot of localization and translation requests from people all over the globe, so we know how much this means to our non-English-speaking fans. We want to deliver translated versions of our games, but ideally these versions wouldn’t just be translated – they would be fully localized. I mean, what good is a question about an American football team translated into German?

Because we’re a company that makes humorous party games and invests heavily in having a certain sense of humor, that means finding comedic writers who can skillfully create new content specific to each language and culture. We are still a small company and we are focused on making 5 new games each year, so we don't have the bandwidth to do that right now.

That being said, we are actively in some level of discussions with potential partners to bring our games to new markets possibly someday but have nothing to announce at the moment. Please follow us on social media such as https://twitter.com/jackboxgames for if things ever change.

Hey Devs, quick suggestion, and i hope that you guys could at least consider it for any of your next titles, because it would be a great hassle to do it in your already released ones.


We already know that you lack the resources for other languages localizations.


But, what about using an api that handles a .json with a translation to load instead?

This system is being used with community translations for stardew valley mods:

Basically what it would do, is to check if there is a .json with a tranlations for every different game.


You would only need to change the actual text system to load from a .json for each game you choose, and to add every line of english text to a flat key→value to look up in the selected translation.

For example: Let's say that i want to use another language for a certain game in the menu, then press a button in the interface that checks if there is another .json (ex: ES.json) other than the default.json

If there is, loads it and picks every needed text line from there.




I know i may not be the best to explain this idea, but hope this gets taken into consideration.

Why don't you use a platform like "crowdin" to translate your games in a "community way"?
I'm sure a lot of people would help with the translation.

Can you at least support cyrillic input on jackbox.tv, so we can type in answers in pur own language? There exist some ffan translations

Make it public. Allow all fans to help with the translation. I once offered a developer to translate their game into german for free and it went very well. Offer your fans to translate your game. It wouldn't cost you anything and the game would become more accessible to people who do not speak much english and therefore you would make more money :D

edit: I just saw that there's already a complete german translation for all Jackbox Party Packs including the voice. You could ask the creators for permission to implement it in your game

HHH we play that game a lot on XBOX1... we life also in germany and we had no problems without translations...
But a question about an American football team translated into German make sence because we have a real growing hype since 2018

There are options even for small dev teams if you would just want to....
I've put all of your games on ignore now anyway after reading this... good luck with a single language game...

Localization / Translation

Hello fellow Jackbox games lovers !
As you may know, most jackbox party games arent available in any other language than english, and while some of us speack it, some of our friends don't...

That is why we made our own translations !
At the moment, we have translated most games into German, Spanish & Russian, but we need your help ! Wheter you want to work on the french version, or any other less common language, we can help you out by setting up the environment, leaving you with only the need to open your webbroswer and translate :D

since there has been "international updates" for some of the games like quiplash 2 and drawful 2, would it be possible to also include this update in the jackbox games instead of only having these updates in the standalone versions?

Yeah, this would be great. More even now that they added Trivia Murder Party 2 and Tee K.O. to the Jackbox Party Starter in multi languages, why not update the originals?

I assume you wont, but still want to ask, is there any plan on updating Trivia Murder Party within this pack to get localization as it is in the Starter pack? It feels really bad to have to buy another pack with games you already own when they could be updated in their original packs...
