Push The Button Hack Queries
Heya all, these questions specifically relate to the hacks that the aliens can use in game. Are they:

1) Permanent? As in do they last beyond one task that the affected player has to perform (assuming they aren't hacked again)?

2) Still there if the hacked player doesn't participate in the task for that round? Like suppose an alien hacks a human in round 1, but that player doesn't participate in the task. Round 2, the same human is not hacked again, and then participates in a task (excl. Bioscanner). Is the human still affected by the hack?

Okay, ended up testing this myself.

1) The hacks are NOT permanent. They only last for the one task. If a human receives an alien prompt twice in a row, they were hacked twice in a row.

2) The hack persists between rounds if the hacked player is not involved in a task on the same round they were hacked. Unconfirmed if the Bioscanner removes the hack despite not affecting any player involved in the task portion of it.

I will test the interaction between the bioscanner and the hack at another time.

Hello!

You are correct with both of the findings you've posted above. To answer the last question, the Bioscanner is not affected by hacks and will not use up a hack if a player that is hacked is sent there. Let us know if you have any other questions here or at help.jackboxgames.com

Thanks for playing!

Heya, appreciate the confirmation.

What happens if two aliens hack the same target, be it another alien or a human? Do the hacks stack, and happen for the targeted player's next two consecutive tasks, or do the two hacks only apply to the target's next task? Could they potentially cancel each other out, given the game's description of the hack "switching" the prompts?

I really enjoy these games and am already looking forward to introducing them to my friends and fams! I just like knowing the ins and outs so that if someone asks me I can tell them myself. Keep doing what you guys do!

Aliens cannot hack the same target at the same time. So if one alien has someone hacked, the others will not be able to hack that person until that hack is used or moved to a different player. Glad you enjoy the games. Thanks for playing!

I would like to add that hacks are locked in only when the Captain is selecting players to participate in a testing room and not when the test starts (I learned this the hard way), if you have used one of your hacks on a person and the Captain selects a room you don't want to use your hack on, you will not be able to undo the hack (even if the probe screen tells you otherwise) and the hack will be redeemed if the player you hacked participates in the test once it starts.
However, if the Captain for some reason does go back to the room selection menu you will be able to toggle hacks as you see fit until another room is selected again.

Also, if an alien is selected to be the captain, when they select players for a test they will see the hack symbol on players if they're being hacked, including aliens that wants to pass as human. Same goes for all the other aliens on the probe screen, as the option to hack another player gets greyed out and says "HACKED" if another alien is currently hacking the same player.

Hopefully this should clear up any confusion you have with hacks. Push the Button is a really great game and hopefully one day I can convince my friends to play it one day.
