21:9 displays
Currently the game runs very oddly at 21:9 resolutions in a way where I'm not sure whether the game is intended to support it or not. As it stands, the current way the game works with these displays is bad, with no option to even display the content in a standard 16:9 ratio.

Using fullscreen settings, there's the auto resolution option, which runs the game in 21:9, but the vignette that runs in gameplay doesn't span the left side of the screen, and the player can't move to the left of the screen. Using any other resolution option stretches out a 16:9 image to 21:9, which for obvious reasons looks horrible. Irritatingly, when playing on a 21:9 display there's no visual indicator of where the edge of the game field is, leading to a lot of deaths as I try to dodge attacks by moving out of the play field.

It'd be great if the game supported 21:9 in some capacity, even if it's only using a 16:9 playing field, much like how Jigoku Kisetsusan uses the full screen for visuals, even if it restricts the playing field. As it is now, it's bizarre playing on a 21:9 monitor, because while the game forces that aspect ratio it's difficult to tell how far the playing field covers. And if 21:9 isn't to be supported, it'd be ideal if a 16:9 aspect ratio could run in fullscreen without the horrible distortion, with black bars like every other game that doesn't support it.

Presently the only way to run the game on a 21:9 display at a 16:9 ratio undistorted is by relying on external tools such as Lossless Scaling, using it to scale a 16:9 window to full screen. Obviously, this is not ideal. I imagine this problem also comes up for users of other aspect ratios, such as 4:3, 16:10 or 32:9.

I'll look into it! Indeed, I never have tried to run the game on a 21:9 scale display.

It might just have a black cutoff on the edges to basically make it 16:9 though; I hope that's okay. Also, it might take me a little bit of time to fix. Most of the game was designed with a 16:9 (or something close to that) ratio in mind.

Yeah that's fine, I didn't even expect arbitrary resolution support for this sort of game, so it surprised me that it actually forces it in this broken kind of way. As it is, the current implementation looks quite good, it's just awkward seeing space you can't move into without a clear boundary.

The funny thing is the game field actually is closer to a 21:9 play space than 16:9 due to the slight horizontal panning that takes place at 16:9.

I play on ultrawide also -- black bars would be VERY appreciated

This is fixed in the latest version! (1.0.0.5)
Let me know if any screens are still janky.

I just went through a run of the single player campaign, no issues and it looks good. Some bullets such as the green girl's (I call her Okuu, sorry but I forget her real name) enormous ones clip the 16:9 border, not sure if its intentional but it looks fine. Thanks for fixing this issue!
