Job level changes something?
Up until now in the game I know we need to level certain jobs to acquire new ones, but leveling a job to 8 gives any advantage? Do we have higher stats with that job?

You do not get any advantages in the functionality of the job. You do however, gain more JP per action for having higher job levels.

Hum... so its only good to master the job then.
Welp, can be good to Black Mage, Time Mage and others with tons of spells and expensive passives to buy. Thanks for the info!

JP per action is based on character level as far as I know.

You'll find that you can master jobs quicker as you're further along into the game.

It's based on both job level and character level. Earlier in the game, job level makes more of an obvious difference. Later on it's the other way around.
Normally the JP serves for learning skills and levelling the class. For most classes you will be able to learn all skills before reaching job LV8.
Notable exceptions are Summoner, Black Mage, White Mage, Time Mage and Samurai which will benefit from job lv JP gain boost.
However, there is also a "JP spill".
Other allies participating in battle wiill get 25% of JP towards this job even if they haven't unlocked it yet.
Say of your White Mage :Mustadio: earned 60 JP by casting Protect, everyone else will gain 15 JP in White Mage class.
This is why, sometimes, when you unlock a new class you will have a lavel higher than one although you have never used it. Perhaps even have enough JP to master it ...
