How much of this game is inspired by Liero ?

I agree it does - but no, I'd never heard of Liero until @supersmo mentioned it. Its prime inspiration is "Mountain Shoot": https://youtu.be/INXf3L0llIk?t=25

Also inspired by Worms (originally I was going to allow weapon-switching, but in realtime I think the game plays better with per-round weapons).

It's a very old genre :-).
