Best Expansion to Date?

Hello everyone! I am a huge fan of this game, and I expect most of you are too! I have played the core game and its first digital expansion and I cannot wait to play more! But I find myself at a crossroads and, unlike Gandalf, I am having trouble following my nose.

I still have only the core game and I am trying to determine whether I should purchase Shadowed Paths or Spreading War as my first physical expansion. They are both quite expensive so for the time being I am trying to pace myself and choose only one. But, of course, I have not played either yet so it is difficult for me to judge where I shall most appreciate the investment.

From what I can tell, Shadowed Paths has awesome characters I want to try (looking at you Gandalf and Arwen), but is not my jam story wise. Meanwhile, I really like the direction the story of Spreading War seems to be tracking towards (Gondor and Rohan and war!), while I am unimpressed with then new characters!

What do you think my fellow geeks? What are YOUR top campaigns so far?
