Hidden boon
Hi. I have a question about the hidden boon. The rules books seam not to be clear to me and we have a disagreement in our small group. As far as I am concerned the hidden boon can be understood in 2 ways:
1. if you are attacked, you can drop this before negating any damage to only get fear.
2. if you are attacked, drop this before negating and do not get any damage.

I thought it was the first one and we are in the last mission of the bones of arnor campaign and I used it this way for the entire game until now. My friend now thinks this is the way to use it, since it does not contain a "you may" in the card text.
Is there some point where this is stated? We are playing the game in our own language (German) and do not know the original text of the card.

If you are attaked, you have to discard it and reseive 0 physical damage.
So it is not optional and it prevents only physical damage.

I have another question regarding this card.
Let's say you are being attacked by some monster. He did 4 Damage and 1 Fear to you.
So before test I blocked all damage using Hidden boon and discard the card, can I after this do a test to mitigate Fear?

Yes, sure.
After discarding the Hidden boon you ignore the physical damage dealt by the attacker and you test to negate the fears only.

Yes, sure.
