From the writer of the free title Her Lie I Tried To Believe comes another interesting kinetic novel. The story has a nice amount of fun little twists that play on your expectations. Much like Her Lie I Tried To Believe the story is something I don't want to go into deeply because it is better to experience it on your own. Also like Hangover Cat Purrroduction's other title; there are times where the writing could use a bit of work. I don't think this is a necessarily a bad thing. If the developer responds to feedback and patches any found mistakes as they did for their other game; it would improve the quality of life of this one.

This title has an interesting mechanic that plays on the twist filled story. There are a few moments in the story that allow you to view the story from a different character's viewpoint. This fills in missing details, explains strange moments, and adds to the backstory. This made the story pretty fun to complete. In my personal opinion the only major con is the ending moments. I honestly didn't understand the twist that happened. I might have just been trying to read it too fast; but in the end I was just left confused.

This game will take you a little under two hours depending on your read speed. It's a fun little read filled with a nice amount of twists and can be worth your time. Before diving into this one; I would check out the free title here and determine if you like the writing style.

I don't really know why but when I started playing The Spell I didn't expect a lot. But it's short (about 60,000 words), so I thought I could find time for this read. Perhaps my low expectations had something to do with dev's name and logo. I don't want to judge but...'Hangover Cat Purrroduction' O_o really?! That cat on the logo makes me sick. Sorry, but...

Fortunately, quite soon I realized how wrong I was. In general I quite enjoyed the writing, though the game has some typos (nothing that can't be easily fixed). The story becomes very captivating rather soon. The plot is intriguing, the feeling of tension kept me really rooted. The very first scene grabbed my attention and I just couldn't drop the game till I learned everything. At some point the plot seemed quite obvious, welp, that's actually rather natural as it's not some fantasy story with too many possibilities. Real life is that simple but those emotions hidden behind, emotions I was forced to feel made the story so gripping, so fascinating! I'm happy my first impression was a mistake.

As the game is not long, it doesn't have lots of characters but they truly are bright and appealing making the whole story genuinely attractive. And I quite liked the art. It's nice enough tho nothing breathtaking. It's a kinetic visual novel, you can't really influence the story. But it has a nice feature when at some point after we get the general impression 'from the side', we can choose different char's perspective of the story. I can't say I wasn't surprised learning new details. Man, I was so engrossed that I even had goosebumps at some moment.

It's not a romance story. Not at all. But...Steve is awesome! So unusual, so unpredictable! I liked reading the same story from his completely unexpected, so exciting side. All his attempts to do right things in the girl's regard are extremely sweet. His story was especially touching for me. Just for his perspective the review is definitely going to be positive. I lloved his story so much! His personality made me feel quite emotional. I'm really grateful for his image, that was a nice experience! And...spell. I don't want to spoil anything. But I like the idea!!!

At the end some plot twists seemed a tad unrealistic but I must admit quite emotional nonetheless.
I had this stupid childish unfounded hope for a happy ending that's how much the story hooked me.
Sad, short...but absolutely amazing game. I haven't played it myself yet but the dev has another kinetic visual novel which is free btw Her Lie I Tried To Believe . I guess I could recommend to try them both!

This is a rather decent story. It is filled with twists and misdirections. A little girl loses her parents in an accident, and has to go live with her uncle Steve. However, Steve may not be what he appears. And because of that, danger swirls about.

Fully recommend.

First of all, I'll start by saying that even if it doesn't last long (5h or so), it's totally worth the cost even at full price. This is a kinetic novel, meaning that you have no meaningful choice allowed and therefore no replayability but it's perfect as it is.
The art is good, the story is consistant and well-written, the music is not the best I've ever heard but it sure serves well its purpose of accompanying us on this journey.
The characters are bright, not dumb or irritating, you get to know them, to see them evolve, to acknowledge their issues and to feel empathy. My favourite one is the male main character, he has a really tortured personality but his awkwardness makes him so hilarious at times, I really came to like him. His actual job was my first guess at the beginning of the game. The outcome may have been obvious for some too but honestly, until the very last sentence, I prayed for a good ending. I'll be honest, I cried at the end.

That was an amazing read and im glad i experienced it. Not what i expected going in, it was actually far better than what i expected. Great art, great use of sound effects, and great charcters. My only complaint is that there couldve been more artwork, especially for the ending. EASY recommendation, id say more about why it was so good but that would spoil it

Wow, i didn't know what to expect jumping into this visual novel, i was really engrossed from the start, filled with plot twists and watching the main characters grow, amazing story <3

It was well worth the 6 hours it took me to read.

I don't usually play these types of games too often but this was an amazing one.

Great story, and as the type of novel states, you have no real input as you're basically reading a book. The amount of twists and turns however will make you believe one thing and then completely turn it on its head. Just when you think you've figured it out, you realize you know nothing at all. I stayed up until 4 AM when I have work in five hours just because I refused to not finish it, as I wouldn't be able to sleep. The ending however won't let you sleep either, we can leave it at that.

Great KN, definitely recommended. Wish the studio were more widely recognized, as this is one of few that I actively wait for news on new IP's or sequels.

This virtual novel is definitely something that leads you one way and pulls the rug from under you before you know it. Something I'd recommend to anyone interested in a great story!

I bought this after playing another of these guys VN, which i loved, so i had high expectations which were held up.
The story is very nice, although it felt confusing in the end, you may find yourself playing this all in one sitting so buckle up.
Soundtrack is not remarkable, which means it's fine.
Writing is well done and not over done, which is great because it's kept simple while still holding it's charm.
The BG art and character sprites are inconsistent, yes. Weird, yes. But you can ignore it.
Overall the story is cativating with nicely done soundtrack and writing which is very friendly and still enjoyable to read.
Would play again.
