What are the best weapons/spells (or anything in general) to ask for?
iv'e seen how it works, and a list for the items, but never what people consider is good out of the pool of items.

I always end up using mine for alll-mer's hidden skills, leg sweep, or an early white angel soul. I never use it to get weapons or offensive spells, but I would suggest swarm of locusts, black orb, or the sergal spear, I _guess_. The funny thing is, I find I need a different thing each run. Sometimes it's a book that gives you the recipe for an explosive vial. Sometimes it's...well, once I literally had to use a scroll to get moldy bread and it saved my party.

If I recall it correctly, the best weapon available through scrolls is the Eastern Sword.
As of spells, necromancy is a must have skill if you're going for an S ending, especially for Enki and Ragnvaldr. Even during a normal walkthrough you can get a full party if you're lucky enough to find a scroll early.
As Blink suggested, black orb and swarm of locusts are very decent choices too.

Those are a couple of good weapon choices but one thing that I try to get a hold of is Loving Whispers.

Having a heal spell is pretty handy-dandy.

Transmutation spell = infinite food and alcohol if you know how to abuse it. Alongside a healing spell, it also gives you infinite healing. Other than that, I'd say White Angel soul is the best.
