Le'Garde's timer
New to the game, done a few runs already. Overall like the setting, difficulty, bravery of the dev. Maybe an ability to save on exit would be nice, cause not everyone can play in long sessions, including me
There is only one problem. I am obviously playing on first difficulty, Fear and Hunger, and as I know, in order to find prisoner alive, you must reach him in 30 minutes

I have no idea how the heck is that possible, if by the time I reach that are with Trotrur and dark priests, basically second room, my second save shows I was in the game for 20 minutes! Really, even knowing the path reaching prisons in 30 minutes seems something impossible. PLus I prefer to play a bit slowly, exploring anything

Is there any mod, or way to edit files, to expand this timer to at least one hour? Thank you in advance

There's a few things that you 'need' to have but you can get to him under 15 minutes.

First - KNOW THE WAY - Most important part is knowing where he is at. The map is slightly random but not enough to change the core locations.
Dash - All characters have access to this at the start of the game. Run away in the starting stories. Any items given at the start can be found in the game.
Fake Book - It's in the first library in the main building. Come through the back to avoid the hounds (Go left to keep them from spawning right away). You need this to open into the back garden.
Explosive Vial - You might have to restart a run or two but make sure to find one of these. You need it to open the hidden garden.
Don't Fight - Fighting takes time that you don't have. Run straight to him.
Don't Talk - Talking to NPCs take time Le'Garde doesn't have. Run straight to him. You can talk to everyone after you have him still.
Save Often - If you head to the left right away instead of into the main building, there is a save room before the prisons. I used this one twice as the shortcut to Le'Grade is near this one on the way back. By rushing you don't have as much equipment and if you get caught things hurt a bit more.

It took me a couple hours to get this down but I was able to get to him without mods or editing. I'm not sure if there's mods or not but unfortunately if you want to have a run with Le'Garde you'll need to do all your exploring after you have him. You won't miss anything by rushing to him (At least from what I noticed from runs before I figured out how to save him.)

My brother in Christ, what you described is basically some speedrunner tactics, requiring me to know the map, and other tricks

I always, ALWAYS play all my games slowly, and methodically, exploring lore and all the places possible. 30 minutes is some ungoldy timer, really, as mentioned above, I reached my first safe point (bed in Buckman's room) after 20 minutes of gameplay, at least save file says so. Really hope it is possible to edit

It is possible to do all that after you get to him.

This game is hitting hard that if you want to explore the prison you are not going to be able to get to someone being actively tortured before they die.

I get the idea, and that makes sense, but damn... 30 minutes is nothing :(

For a gamer on the outside maybe!

But for someone being tortured it certainly would suck. There's plenty of time to be killed faster then thirty minutes. Humans are squishy.

It's possible to reach him in time even when you take the long route and take all the loot. As for the timer, I'm pretty sure it's longer than that. I've saved him before with the save file right before it being at 50 minutes. I also saw someone say that the timer only counts down in the overworld, so that might be why.

On Fear & Hunger difficulty you have way more time than 30 minutes, I think it was 2 hours or something like that. Even then, the game has a multitude of endings, a lot of stuff to find after getting to Le'garde wether he's dead or alive, and it's very probable you'll do multiple runs, so I'd recommend not to rush through the first time around. And, by the way, you'll familiarize yourself with the layout of the place quite quickly, so being fast in subsecuent playthroughs will be way easier, for now just enjoy the game and take your time :)

I googled about that before, and nope, it only says 30 minutes on all difficulties, plus he is always dead on hardest one.

Okay, it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious. Rushed as fast as i could, save scummed to loot explosive vial, got through mines (fastest route, according to internet) - LeGarde is dead. God, I hope someone here who knows this engine/modding, answers me here, and tells how I can edit that timer to at least one hour. FFS, I like overall difficulty and combat, and atmosphere, but that timer is just stupid. Overall, timed activities in games should die out already

It's going to take awhile to learn the map. what you do on one playthrough you most likely won't be able to do on the next. The best thing to do is get dash and explore the entire dungeon and plan your run after you've learned how to navigate without getting caught up in to many fights

Here's a little trick you can do to get to Le Garde in 15 minutes.

Pick D'Arce the Knight, choose Raise your Buckler in Defence, Run away, Manage defences and Rush straight after him.
Go to the altar in the Level 1 Inner Hall and murder the priests and search them, use the soul stone obtained to get a lesser soul, go to the marked door in the Level 1 Courtyard or Level 1 Entrance depending on the map gen and use the talisman to open the door.
Use the Hexen to learn Leg Sweep, then make your way to the Level 3 Prisons, go to the stairway door and force it open. Use Leg Sweep to break it down instantly since it is registered as a leg. Then make your way down the stairs to the Level 7 Catacombs and save Le Garde (and don't get raped).

EDIT: This won't work on Hard Mode and on Terror and Starvation you will need to take the Level 3 Basement (side entrance) rather than the front entrance.

someone knows if it's possible that legard is dead in less time? some RNG or some choices can affect, or simply a bug?

I got to Le Garde on my first Terror and Starvation run in under 30 the first time. Its all about game knowledge. Experimenting with different routes and exploring the map thoroughly like you say your doing should help tremendously with this as, while the layout might be a little different, most key points stay the same. It is very doable. You just have to know whats worth it on the way and what isnt

He dies 30 minutes into the game after exiting the intro and entering the dungeon.

The exception is on Hard Mode where he is always dead.
