Empty scroll issue
When I typed in something for the scroll for the first time, I noticed that when I hit 'OK' an extra space is added before I go to the next verse. Is this causing me not to get the item/spell I need?

Yes, the scrolls require perfect spelling and spacing. An extra or missing space will result in the scroll not working. I have missed out on a lot of scrolls in my earlier runs because of this!

I understand that, but I see when I select the confirmation button it automatically puts in an extra space. Do you know how I can prevent that?

You can use Enter instead of Space in those scrolls. You can actually just type normally with your keyboard, just be cautious about eny extra letters you may type along the way
