is it worth to use a claymore at the cost of not using a shield

Generally killing or crippling the opponent is worth more then the shield. However if you have pheremones or war cry having a tank character that draws enemy attacks is great.

I would take the shield, simply because missing attacks is an ever present threat in this game, and you don't want to be defenseless. At least have on some arm guards

Well ya Salmonsnake soul or arm guard a must for any two handed weapon so you don't lose any arms. Shields won't protect your limbs at all, just body.

Yes, The Claymore is big damage. The damage is worth it, and I'm pretty sure defence is bugged to some degree. Just get arm guards or salman snake soul, and you'll be golden.

But most of the time you're either a child murderer or you've killed a knight who (unlike the others you've fought before getting here half the time) didn't harbour hostile intentions towards you.
