Having limbs cut off automatically is stupid ♥♥♥♥ and the dev should feel bad.
OH YOU MISSED! I GUESS YOU LOSE A LEG LOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLLLLLl.

Seriously! What do you expect anyone to do once they lose a leg? do you expect us to keep playing while moving ultra slow? You encourage us to reset. What the hell is the point of a defense stat if some mongoloid with a rusty cleaver automatically removes my arm and I can no longer use bone scissors?

Oh, wait. Combat is actively discouraged and meant to be played tactically.

OP seems to have missed the core mechanic of the game.

Ok. I'll just keep reloading constantly.

Actually no. You should feel bad. And you did, right? So the dev succeded in his task, which is getting a simple message through your head: you ♥♥♥♥ up, you lose a limb. That's a realistic scenario given the circumstances. That's how things are in this game.
Reloading constantly is perfectly fine. You can treat it as an extended game over scenario, or you can continue playing to learn quicker

I didn't mess up. I did everything right. The RNG made me miss the hacksaw 3 times in a row.

Yeah this game is about managing your chances. It's an rnd based rpg, like many others out there. If you have low mind, you'll miss a lot. Drink and smoke to reduce your stress and use torches to slow down mp loss. More characters in a party means doubling/trippling your chances to dismember your oponent first, leading to clean kills. Being alone and scared is a sure way to get dismembered and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the ass, so before you try to attack a towering monstrosity, maybe find someone to help you out?

You still miss even if your mind is at max.

Yes, there's always a chance. Are you new to rpg genre? Because dice rolls are common thing in rpgs. Your job is to avoid risks and calculate your chances. Pressing the right buttons is only part of it

Pretty rare for a failed roll to ruin your game though.

Yeah no, I'm 8 hours in and the hit rates are atrocious, you just need to get really lucky with the loot and get eyeglasses. Either that or each weapon has its own accuracy stat that the wiki doesn't list, which wouldn't surprise me because I feel like the Claymore hits twice as much as the Bone Shears

You're not supposed to go for the head first. That rarely lands, you have to dismember most enemies to increase hit rates on the head

Skill issue

Part of your mistake is using the bone shears, never use those ever again. Even with eyeglasses. Warscythe also misses like crazy. Claymore is a bit wonky with accuracy too. You're getting warmer though, realizing that some weapons have an absolute sh#t accuracy rate

As for the other person complaining, I always aim for the weapon hand and have only sometimes missed, with starter weapons. Its a stretch to claim all you ever do is miss, the rng isn't that whacked out. But this also isnt the kind of game to just try and kill every single thing on the map

To me, this comment sums up the real issue here. A simple failed roll shouldn't ruin your game, and it does happen in this game sometimes, frustration that comes from it is very much understandable. It's not a skill issue thing like some other less weel-intended comments are letting OP know.

It is a flaw from the game sadly. I love this game absolutely a lot lot lot, but I'm not blinded as well and can clearly see the flaws, and this is one of them.
In my opinion you shouldn’t fight any enemies that have a chance to ruin your run early. I know that you need to have some pre knowledge to understand that guards can cut off limbs and that most weapons can miss but knowing both you probably want to avoid the big beasts. I feel it’s the intentional game design that some enemies are supposed to be avoided because encountering a battle with them can lead to unnecessary health or limb losses. You can easily dispatch some of the early enemies like zombies, dark priests and Trotur where a miss won’t cause you too much harm. I think the strategy to follow is to gather what you can in the beginning and try to find allies to more securely deal with enemies. With allies you should have much lower chance to miss important hits and can more securely attack the guards and other threats. If you want to be extra secure you can learn pheromones from Sylvian to divert all attacks to one person. If that person has the boss drop salmon snake soul they can prevent all limb losses, bleeds and infections. I think the game design isn’t flawed I just think they intentionally made the first enemy be brutal with misses to convey the game design and I personally like that.
figure out the game, limb loss isnt a game ender
