LAG IS MAKING PARTS UNPLAYABLE

I am running into some horrible lag problems, to the point where I can't even play. I tried opening and closing the menu like some have said, I've tried exiting and restarting the game (and losing a ton of progress), and I've tried restarting my computer and opening the game fresh. Anyone else having these issues and any advice on how to help fix this? Are there things I can do from my computer side that can help?

Does the lag occur in certain areas? Is it consistent? Unfortunately, I have similar problems- in some areas (specifically, near the end) I will get less than 1 FPS. This doesn't happen all the time. Entering a battle often resets whatever is the issue. If not, you're stuck with restarting.

It initally seemed to come and go but as I've gotten farther in the game, it seems to be getting worse and I'm at the point where I can't even play because the FPS is so low. I was hoping not to have to restart but I may try and see if it continues to happen as I play and see if I can find some commonalities. I hope it gets better or gets fixed, this is such an awesome game and I want to keep playing.

UPDATE: I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and the lag resolved (for the most part, there is still a small amount) and best of all, I didn't lose any saved data! I would suggest if you are running into horrible lag, uninstall and reinstall as that seemed to work!

restarting the computer, reinstalling the game, digging into the game codes. Nothing helped. The game starts to lag indoors, FPS 8-14.
I can't play like that D;
