Ailments and how to cure them.
I just started playing and have made a bit of headway into the basement and the beginning of the castle, obviously I died quite a bit in the process.

I´ve found a few ways to heal ailments, but the method to fix broken bones, and what I presume is Poison that I got from curing the maggot infection that some of the creatures in the basement can give you. (Remove via Worm Juice).

As there is no guide for it yet and I couldn´t find any mention of fixing bones in the forums I thought I´d start by asking for general ailments in general.

The poison I think you can cure with White Vial (not 100% sure about the name). Also for me no idea on how to cure broken bones, and also what penalty they provide.

I don't know anything that cures broken bones. They reduce maximum HP.

If splints are in the game, I haven't seen anyone online how has talked about how to make or get them. Also editing the save file reveals there's no item like that currently avaible to players.

Load your save file or restart the game. That's the only cure for broken bones, unless you want to do a marriage.

I feel like I've gotten enough hang of this game to never end up with it. Think the best you can do is prevent it in the first place.

Crow mauler likes to inflict that on you, but he cant if his club arm is off etc.

I also had a soul item that prevented broken bones... but I don't remember which monster that had this soul.

I think was the huge salamander in the mines.

Has anyone tried combining sticks with cloth fragments? Logically speaking those would be the materials used to create splints.. However, I have had no luck on finding anything that would give you that recipe or ability to aquire them...

Okay I'm gonna come out and say it now - there are no splints in the game. I didn't think a broken bone could heal up in the time you spend in the dungeons, so there is no clear cure for it. There are a couple of ways in the game to reset your character so to speak, so they only offer salvation against broken bones.

I mean to be fair, curing sickness / infections and some of the other ailments also takes more than a bit of White Liquid or some such.

Broken bones are mostly an annoyance and not game ending, especially after you get a bit more knowledge on how the game works you´ll rarely get hit in the first place so it´s not THAT important.

Maybe include the curing of bones under one of the more powerful healing items / healing spells?

I get that splints wouldn´t make "sense", but the game does feature quite a bit of magic or magical items, so maybe healing them via that approach could be possible.

Also white vials are NOT the only way to cure poison, combining some herbs, I believe red and green, will cure poison.

Ironic that you cured anal bleeding by giving someone else anal bleeding lol!

@meveriton, fair enough. There's plenty of magic around to heal broken bones. I've given this thing some thought and I got some ideas on how to implement a splint later on.

One thing about status ailments I'd like to say from game design standpoint. My idea for the game was that with each encounter your characters would be stacked with more and more ailments and burden and part of the game was to deal with it. It's kinda like reverse jRPG, where fighting as many enemies as possible makes characters stronger with EXP and Levels. In theory it's a fun idea to play around with imo, but it's probably not perfect as it is in practise.

The system highly encourages you to either not fight anything if you can help it, or to have the foreknowledge to target the body parts that inflict permanent damage / ailments that are hard to cure.

I personally am OK with it, but it´s certainly something that needs getting used to.

Basically this. It's actually pretty brutal to continue if you keep taking ailments, so avoiding combat or winning on the first turn is preferable. Nothing like getting your legs chopped off and losing dash, or taking bleed damage without cloth rats.
