How do I recruit main characters to my team?! Possible spoilers

I am currently doing a runthrough as D'arce and I have no idea how to get Enki, Cahara, or the Outlander to join me. Cahara dips out and steals some of my stuff every time I bust him out of the jail cell. Enki gets pissed in the library if I keep talking to him and then ignores me. And I can talk to the Outlander in the 2nd courtyard, but there are no options to ask him to join me. What am I missing? Do I have to talk to them during battle? Defeat them to get them to join? Help please! All I can manage to get is Moonless and The Girl.

Outlander - after the courtyard you will need to find him in the bowels of the giant tree located near the courtyard behind the rocks. Talk to him and you will have an option to offer him joining you.
Cahara - after you break him out and he ditches you, you will need to cross the mines on your way to of Le'garde's prison. After that location you will arrive to the area with wolf pelt-cannibals and a prison arbalest guy. You'll meet Cahara there and have an option either to get angry ant him and fight him or let him join you.
Enki - when you first meet him, do not talk to him until he gets annoyed at you and starts to ignore you, otherwise he will attack you upon your second meeting. When you meet him a second time in a library not far from Le'garde's cell, you will need to have a yellow talisman that you can acquire from a Yellow mage enemy. Do not just give it to him. You must ask what will you get in return.
