If you want to serve the customers you have to play a different game.
I kinda also like the organic feel in delivering the food but it is too much for some people and only work for small restaurant. Though it make sense in delivering food in a high class restaurant that is not in a buffet style business.
It would be too much for people playing solo but they could use npc to do the delivering of food for solo players, while more fun for people playing multiplayer to deliver their food. The best solution would be having npc doing it while player also able to delivery dishes at the same time.
