Please bring back AIR STRAFE movement
I hope you kind developers consider bringing back the airstrafe. It's quite literally the only issue I have with the game and it's big enough reason for me to not want to sink time into this game.

Not only would it allow you to go faster, it would also give you more control while executing precise maneuvers. Right now you're kinda slippery with the blade dash and aerial movement is very hard to control when you're not using the blade. It took me three tries to get on top of the Life siphon statue secret, first because crouching made me fall straight down the ledge and second because I flew right past it with sprint.

The most frequent counter argument for not having air strafe that I've heard in discord is to "not appear like a Quake clone" which I think is a ridiculous reason. First of all, Half Life is not a Quake clone.. Second, the scent and noise coming off this game is 90% Quake anyway and it's very dishonest of you to say that you weren't trying to appeal to the Quake audience. The lack of air strafing only achieves wonky and boring movement. Equivalent would have been to get rid of strafe running in Ion Maiden. Which they didn't.. which by your logic means that it's a Doom clone.

Another argument I've been bombarded with is "you can go fast with the sword". I simply don't care, because I'd rather trade speed for maneuverability. Because that's what made Quake movement smooth and satisfying. And while I agree that it's fun to dash around in the hub stage, it's very clumsy in the more cramped areas. Also if you like it now, trust me it would be infinitely more fun with airstrafing.

The only argument that would actually make sense is that inclusion of air strafe combined with blade dash would make the movement too fast. That's absolutely true, but only when using the melee weapon. In my opinion it would be more fun though.

Sorry if I come off as entitled or aggressive. Lack of air strafing is just very disappointing to me.

I absolutely agree. bhopping through levels in quake feels so good and without the air strafing, ramp jumps and rocket jumps i wouldn't have played it anywhere as near as much as i did. Holding off on wrath for now

Even if they don't bring it back, I think there's a possibility that you can enable it via the cvars when they open it up a bit. Currently something is canceling out air accel cvars, which is why air strafe doesn't work. So, I'll be definitely doing that if they won't do it themselves. I wouldn't be able to compete in speedruns, but at least I'd have fun lol.

I've been noticing this and think I agree at the moment but will need to put more time in. The geometry of the level design doesn't seem to mesh well with this decision.

seconding this

I'm actually having a hard time enjoying the game because of how wonky the movement feels.
Agreed, one major reason for why DUSK is so good in my opinion is how amazing the movement is.

Although I'm still enjoying the other Quake engine mechanics that you can exploit further with the blade mechanic, I know I would enjoy it a million times more with air strafe. Right now the game is kinda fun to speedrun with melee only, but as soon as you go for 100% runs (which I'd prefer to do) - the pace of the game takes a nosedive.

Please. Air strafe movement would be simply beautiful. This way, I can be top10 gamer. I can't play it with no air strafing. Please enable air strafing. I'll be forever grateful. Speaking from my heart.

I asked a while ago is it was going to be added and they said yes. I don't know what changed but I'm holding off purchasing for now.

removing or limiting it just makes the game objectively less fun, I don't see the point unless it straight up broke something, bunnyhopping and rocket jumping never broke quake.

1+ yup jump is weak needs higher faster jump and duckjump. 1+ movement needs faster and higher response. Stafe is alright fast enough not too fast like dusk.

same. pirated it instead to test it instaed of paying $30 to play a short beta test. as it stands, im never buying this product. they flat out lied about the features and gimped the game instead. didnt even finish the "demo" i downloaded, it was just a walking simulator with old graphics.

Some increased air controll would be nice yes. It feels a bit stiff now.

Here's how to re-implement Q1-style movement to some degree:

1. Open up <wherever WRATH is installed>/kp1/default.cfg with a text editor
2. Go to the PLAYER header
3. Change or add the variables here so they contain at least the following:
sv_maxspeed 416 sv_accelerate 16 sv_friction 6 sv_maxairspeed 39 sv_airaccelerate -1

Hopefully the game should then move a little bit like this: https://streamable.com/xm09m

BONUS: To show the FPS and speed counter, under the RENDERING header in default.cfg add:
showfps 1 showspeed 1
