It's literally the very same type of sword!
So, now the mystery is solved, eh? We learn something new every day!
Apples give "appleish" vibes, oranges give "orangeish" vibes, et cetera.
That said, the animations in the game are very nice. I don't like the woman in the demonstration video, her lazy stance, her lazy block, her stretched arms and legs, her "could not care less" attitude. But I like what I see in the game, and that's important! The technique of the cut seems correct and very spot on. Finally, a fencer that used THE FULL REACH AND POWER OF THE WEAPON!
Bravo, hoooray!
That said - do something with Longsword in the game. It has the worst animations of all weapons, it concentrates mostly on irrelevant, badly execuded, incorrect or useless moves.
Specifically - add classic cuts with the full length and reach of the weapon - we have only ONE or TWO, and only from the upper guard. That's not how you use longsword! and add horizontal cuts against the waist ("the dwarf", in the nomenclature of my teachers), There are 8 main directions you can cut from, not just 4!
Just my two cents. I am of course happy with whatever you give us. You are the devs, you have your vision, and your game is nothing but the highest quality so far. If it's not perfect, that's understandable. But any game can always be further improved. Or it can be broken. Game development is not an easy job.
Rob Roy was a scotsman - he used a scots broadsword, which is a similar sword, having a similar (but not identical) kind of hand protection but definitely not a Schiavona.
The main difference is in usage - being from the british isles, swords like the scots broadsword or english 'mortuary' sword were used very defensively, utilising lots of small sideways turns with the feet and lots of use of hanging or pendant guard. Whereas the schivona was more italian and so used much more offensivly.
Take a look at this video of the two different weapons being used against each other!

Again, I'm repeating hearsay, I've never handled one.
Doesn't he go to gardant sometimes after he wins?
