Assigned controller doesn't work

I have had this game since its release because I am into HEMA. I have multiple controllers on my PC because I am also into Sim Racing. When I now load this game (other games seems to be ok) it automatically assigned my Sim Racing H Shifter, I went into setting and assigned the Xbox One Wireless controller, it was mapped in the setting page, I even tested it in the calibrate and all buttons are working. Then I exit from the setting page and onto the game mode selection (Story, Survival) the controller still works. But then after I clicked any of the game mode for example Survival, once I was at the characters selection page, the game no longer detect my Xbox One Wireless controller. @Kubold please fix this, I love this game and I hate not being able to play it using my Xbox One Wireless controller any longer.

If others also have many controllers on your PC, did you manage to fix this? I know I can unplug all my sim racing gears: Steering Wheel, Direct Drive Motor, Pedal Set, H Shifter, and Handbrake. But that means after playing Hellish Quart, I will need to get all of them to work again!! Which will be a pain.

Nope, seems the only way is to unplug stuff.

This should be an easy fix - there's a call to a function/method resetting the controller somewhere around the code handling character selection screen/functionality. You can remove the bound controller or bound a new one and every single time you go to the char. selection screen you get it reset to whatever game deems "default" for you. For me it's now a custom DIY right simpit console with some knobs and switches. Yay.
