The character will obviously be balanced around having a protected head. Why are you complaining about balancing about a character that we cant play yet? How about you wait and see how the helmet actually affects things instead of making useless speculation
It is not like a single helmet will protect you from the one hit kill system of this game very well. If you are selecting your moves intelligently, you would just never make an attack that his helmet would block.
I would rather have interesting encounters than 'fair' and 'balanced' fights. Multiplayer, either local or Parsec, can have classes for different weapons, modes and so on to balance things out.
Same. A duelling rpg, Lace and Steel, really focused on it in their mechanics. Armour would mean your fatigue rose quicker, but functioned as damage reduction, and was pretty good. If damage goes to 4, armour blocking up to 3 is excellent. I say that because it was set during morion times, and taking a good helmet and risking the rest would not hit your fatigue too much, but could save your head.
I did wonder if armour is already in recently. Was playing Lasz, and took a cut to my leather boot of blood-red fashion and took about 16 damage. Of course killed the opponent since their attack did so little.
It fits the time period, and some armour was worn. Look to reiters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reiter
Could add a nice challenge if it allows them to take one lethal hit to the protected area, but balance will need to be also considered.
but against a cuirasassier in three quarters armour or against gendarme in full plate you have almost no chances with saber
I could also remember a winged hussar that have a kind of three quarters armour that a bit lighter than a cuirassier's armour
He doesn't have that though, he has a helmet. Would like to see jack of plate in the game for something special on another character:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_of_plate
so a character with aromour will make all unarmored charactes useless
It won't, especially given how good some moves of existing characters already are.
it were as U are telling, nobody would spend money for useless armour
